The Globe's Gary Washburn wrote a story yesterday about the possibility of an NBA All-Star Game being held in Boston. Here's a excerpt:
With a shortage of NBA cities applying for All-Star Games because of the cost, Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck told the Globe the club is considering filing an application. Grousbeck said he had a conversation with Jim Rooney, the executive director of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority about taking steps in the process. "I spoke to Jim Rooney casually the other day about it," Grousbeck said. "And we've agreed it's something worth looking at."
It's a little surprising that teams don't want to have it "because of the cost." I would expect the event to generate a lot of income for a city/franchise, but apparently not.
The last time the NBA held it's mid-season showcase in Boston was 49 years ago. And it's not like the Super Bowl that rotates between warm ...

How will Doc Rivers handle Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett the rest of the regular season?
Pierce is expected to play in Wednesday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, though he said he’ll discuss with head coach Doc Rivers the possibility of resting at times over the final five games of the regular season.
“I’m going to leave that up to coach,” Pierce said. “Maybe I’ll...
Kevin Garnett seemed pretty amped up to be back on the floor Sunday after missing eight games due to a bone spur in his foot.
Garnett hates it when he can't play, so much so that he won't even sit on the bench on nights he's sitting out because he wants to be on the court with his teammates so badly.
Judging from his latest quotes and his teammates love for him, Garnett...
Hesitant. Lazy. Useless. Unintelligent. Moronic.
These make up a small sample of the plethora of adjectives I’ve used in describing Brandon Bass’ play this season. Hey, it falls within the job requirements of being founder, chairman and most vocal supporter of the Brandon Bass Hate Club.
You can now add “eating crow” to those responsibilities.
Over the first 62 games of the...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
“I think the reason people are going small is for the advantage, just trying to be quicker, trying to increase the pace,” Garnett said. “I think we’re doing the opposite. Obviously we’re still trying...
Rajon Rondo sat down with ESPN’s Hannah Storm for a Sunday Conversation segment to talk about his ACL injury and his current rehab process. For the first time, Rondo detailed how he didn’t realize he had a serious injury until 30 minutes prior to the Celtics playing the Heat on January 27, hearing about his injury on the radio, getting back to the basics in training and his...
Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers would prefer to have Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce at full strength, rather than see Boston go into the postseason as complete underdogs. With the health of their stars in question, though, the Celtics have some of the most intriguing NBA odds in the sportsbook.
In late January, superstar Rajon Rondo, undoubtedly the Celtics’ most valuable player...
BOSTON — Back in uniform for the first time in more than two weeks, Kevin Garnett was far from at his best on Sunday.
Garnett labored at times against the Wizards, huffing and puffing his way along the court in the first half as the Celtics held a slim four-point lead going into the break. He found a second wind after halftime, going 3-for-4 from the field in the fourth quarter...
The Celtics lost an ugly game against the Brooklyn Nets 101-93, but before the final buzzer went off, Kevin Garnett took it upon himself to let Kris Humphries know Boston does not care for him much.
With just under nine minutes left in the fourth quarter there was a loose ball. Both Garnett and Humphries went for the ball and Humphries clearly had it. Garnett took the opportunity...
Tonight's loss to the Nets was a heartbreaker. To me, this loss ruins their chances at getting the six seed. The Hawks, who the Celtics were just 1.5 games behind going into tonight, beat the Sixers this evening to take a 2.5 game lead over Boston for the six seed. So now it appears the C's will be playing the Knicks in this year's first round. That's disappointing...
It seems like the Celtics have more than their share of rivalries lately.
For the past few years, the Lakers, Knicks and Heat were teams Boston always got hyped for and the matches usually ended up in a shoving match or with some serious peacocking.
Now Brooklyn can be added to that list. Everyone remembers the "brawl" back in November with Rajon Rondo and Kris Humphries...

With Louisville's NCAA Championship this past Monday, Terrence Williams was reminded not only of his past successes, but of the enormous potential he let slip away. One of the most athletic perimeter players in all of college basketball, he took home All-American honors as a Senior and was drafted by the New Jersey Nets with the 11th pick in 2009. After a solid rookie year, Williams...

It's been well over three months since the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics met, but extra intensity can still be expected when these teams close their season series.
The Nets are closing in on home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs and can capture the season series for the first time since 2005-06 with a victory Wednesday night on the road against the Celtics...
