The Washington Wizards lost their home opener tonight 89-86 to the Boston Celtics 89-86. The loss drops the Wizards to 0-2 while the Celtics got their first win of the season against two losses.  The Wizards started horribly tonight -- much like their season opener in Cleveland -- and fell behind 19-2 in the first quarter. Trailing 26-12 after one quarter, Wizards Head Coach Randy Wittman turned to his bench and that worked, as the reserves dominated Boston and outscored the opposition 30-23 to cut the lead to 49-42 at halftime. Backup forward/center Kevin Seraphin, playing for the first time this year, went five for five from the field in the first half, scoring 10 points in 11 minutes on the court. Guard Jordan Crawford also contributed, mainly because he stopped shooting deep jumpers and actually attacked the basket -- something he needs to do a lot more often.  The Wizards fell behind by double digits again in the third quarter, but again the reserves led the team back a...

Mistake with Wizards ticket ad

A ticket company made a mistake with one of the ads it was running to promote a ticket package they were trying to sell to Wizards fans.

Washington Wizards place underaged Bradley Beal in Beer Ad

It’s already been a tough season for the Washington Wizards, as their two best players John Wall and Nene are out indefinitely. That doesn’t leave many bright young faces to be the “face of the franchise” right now. The closest thing to it is 2nd overall pick Bradley Beal out of Florida. With struggling personnel comes struggles to sell tickets, and the fans need a little...

Wizards beer ad briefly features 19-year-old Bradley Beal (Picture)

Those of you in the D.C. area who enjoy having a few beers before watching your favorite team play were treated to a great special from the Washington Wizards on Saturday night. As you can see from the advertisement above, the Wizards were running a promotion where $25 got you a ticket and access to $2 Budweisers for several hours before Washington’s game against the Boston Celtics...

The Opposition: The John Wall Dilemma

Note: I’m aware John Wall won’t be playing tonight, but this is about the state of the Wizards, and Wall is in integral part of that conversation. So. Enjoy. One of my good friends has been dating a girl for nearly a year. She is his first girlfriend in a very, very long time, and as is wont to happen in such situations, he got very invested in the relationship very quickly. This...

Celtics 89, Wizards 86

A night after what their coach called a ''flat game,'' Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics held the Washington Wizards to 1-for-14 shooting at the start, then were barely better at the end. Strong defensive stands early - Washington's only scoring in the first 8 minutes came on Garnett's goaltending call - and late, plus Paul Pierce's 27 points, including...

Celtics survive Wizards (barely) 89-86

Well that was better, I guess.  The Celtics survived a nail-biter against the Washington Wizards (WITHOUT John Wall and Nene) after they blew a sizable lead. But I’ll TRY to be positive and accept our first win of the season on the second night of a back-to-back, and chalk it up to the Celtics playing down to inferior competition. Let’s get to the recap:Sullinger got the...

Recap: C’s hold on to win ugly one in D.C.

Celtics came-out of the gate on fire tonight. KG was hitting shots early & often, the defense was focused & guys had a spring in their step. Rajon was distributing the ball well from the jump- he had 5 assists in the first quarter alone to help get the C’s out to an early 26-12 lead after 1. The Wizards bench then got Washington right back into it behind Kevin Seraphin’s...
