It is quite possible the NBA has seen the last of the playing days of Brandon Roy. After coming out of retirement after many devastating knee injuries, the Minnesota Timberwolves signed Roy in the hopes his knee issues were a thing of the past and he was ready to prove his naysayers wrong. Instead, it seems his naysayers and teams who passed on signing him were right - his knee issues were still something to stay away from. Roy injured his right knee and went under the knife once again to repair his injury. "Brandon Roy will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery this week, the seventh knee surgery of his career. Roy fatefully banged his knee in the Wolves' final preseason game, which led to ongoing soreness and caused him to miss the past four games. His upcoming surgery is another sad if predictable chapter in his NBA career, and could very well signal the end of his season, if not his career."  Though the injury was considered a "success", you have to wonder if this is it for Roy. Roy averaged 5.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists in five games for Minnesota before succumbing to this injury. Now Minnesota is out another player on the roster (Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio out with injury) and the team may have to eat the $5 million given to Roy. It made for a great comeback story and in the end, Roy can hang his head high should this be the end of his NBA road. He didn't give up, rehabbed liked a mad man, tried the platelet-rich plasma procedure and picked himself off the ground and played in the NBA. He did it his way and on his terms. No one can say he didn't try but then again, I would not be surprised to hear he will try to make another comeback. He is too much of a competitor to not try. [follow]
