MEMPHIS -- For 17 consecutive games, Dorell Wright didn't score in double figures. In the last four games prior to Wednesday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Philadelphia 76ers forward showed signs of life, averaging 15 points. He achieved liftoff Wednesday in the FedExForum, exploding for a season-high 28 points as the 76ers hammered the Rudy Gay-less Grizzlies 99-89. Gay wasn't even in the building because of personal reasons; he supposedly had flight delays because of inclement weather after going home for Christmas to the East Coast. Maybe his defense could have helped slow Wright, who came into Wednesday averaging eight points, and that was after back-to-back efforts of 25 and 20 points a week ago at Dallas and at Houston, respectively. Wright, in the starting line for an injured Jason Richardson (lower back strain) hit seven of 10 shots, including five of eight 3-pointers. His last 3-pointer with 3:16 left the 76ers an 11-point lead, and he f...

Marc Gasol goes behind-the-back, sinks fadeaway jumper (Video)
It's not often that we see an NBA big man go behind-the-back in a game but that's what Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol did last night.

Don't Read Too Much Into The Sixers' Road Win Over The Memphis Grizzlies
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports
Today, I could write a nice “I told you so” piece on Dorell
Wright being inserted into the Philadelphia 76ers’ starting lineup, but I’m not
Skip Bayless.
Instead I’m too cynical right now of a team that’s just
14-15 overall and has shot just 44 percent from the field while scoring just
93.6 points per game this season. To add onto all of...
