I'll take Ricky Rubio.

How far has American basketball fallen?

Ty Lawson cutting down net after North Carolina beat Michigan State, 2009 NCAA Championship Game
I'm not saying Ty Lawson didn't deserve to win the Bob Cousy Award; he is the best point guard in college basketball, but... the talent pool is shrinking big time.

You can have Ty Lawson's ability to break down defenses with his speed and ball-handling; I'll take Ricky Rubio's ability to see the game in four dimensions on both sides of the court.

Rubio's got a funkier version of John Stockton written all over him, making picking pockets look so easy - against Spanish ACB professionals and senior internationals. Lawson's just another Raymond Felton.

If I'm the human resources manager for a lottery-bound NBA franchise, I'd rather be making a personnel file for Ricard Rubio Vives than Tywon Ronell Lawson.

P.S. Blake Griffin's winning the Naismith Award is another example of the American talent pool contracting. Griffin is supremely gifted physically and athletically, but he doesn't have much refined skill; he's like an athletic, coordinated version of Tyler Hansbrough.

P.P.S. About Tyreke Evans : Are you kidding me? He's got a nose for the ball, and good people looking out for him, but I wouldn't be confusing him for a hoops version of Rashad Evans anytime soon.
