My first car was a '66 VW Beetle. Stock, except for the Kenwood deck. The six-volt electricals would let me down periodically if the wipers, radio and turn signals were all on at the same time. Perhaps, not so coincidentally, it once famously caught fire not far from Lake Merritt.
