VON WAFER RUMORS & GOSSIP

POTD 1/23/12: JaJuan Johnson On Von Wafer

JaJuan Johnson has scored seven baskets in his young NBA career.  I’ve seen two of the seven, both of which were dunks… and fairly nasty ones at that.  One of the five that I haven’t seen was also a dunk,  so that means 42.8% of his scores (excluding freethrows) come on throw downs.  That’s a pretty solid ratio for a young forward.  Keep it up, JaJuan! Be sure to pause...

Wafer’s Tweet Gets Him Shipped Out Of Boston

Yesterday the Boston Celtics agreed to send shooting guard Von Wafer to the Orlando Magic in a sign-and-trade (Orlando Pinstriped Post). While the move might not seem that important considering what else has been going on in the NBA trade market, the trade becomes a lot more interesting when you look into the reason for the abrupt dumping of Wafer. Celtics fans are one of the more...

Von Wafer Just Wants To Be Honest, Y’all

Von Wafer has played for 6 NBA teams since he was drafted in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft, so it came as little surprise that he chose to play in Italy for a year instead of waiting out the lockout. But it’s not his paltry 7.3 ppg career scoring average that has people buzzing like sassy little bees today. It’s a Tweet that Wafer – real name Vakeaton Quamar Wafer...

Von Wafer signs in Italy

Von Wafer signed with the Italian club Venoli Cremona, as first reported by Alex Kennedy and confirmed by Chris Forsberg. The deal contains an opt out clause for Wafer to return to the NBA if and when the lockout ends this season.Wafer reminds me of one of my teammates growing up. This kid was a space cadet, the team clown, a very talented player but also one who occasionally watched...

Wafer throws down a vicious dunk.. at least he thinks

Watch Von Wafer's reaction after the miss. Does it look like someone who just missed a dunk or thinks it went down? Before people get on Von also remember that Delonte also missed a dunk earlier in the game and allegedly the two fought after the game whose missed dunk was better. Then ESPN Boston's Chris Forsberg and Wafer got into a twitter battle.

Wafer's back... and Doc apologizes

Chris Forsberg has some practice notes from today:  reserve guard Von Wafer, who has missed the last 10 games after straining his right calf in a win over Golden State on Feb. 4, engaged in his most heightened basketball activities since the injury. Wafer participated fully in the practice, including the scrimmage sessions, then returned to the court after for additional shooting...

Is Von Wafer trying to make Delonte look bad?

The incident was first reported on hoopsworld.com, which stated that Ainge is considering releasing West, who is missing the first 10 games on an NBA suspension (gun charges) and is on a non-guaranteed contract. “That’s just not true,” said Ainge. “I have no idea where that came from.” Actually, the Celts do have an idea, with sources saying they believe the entire...

ONE BAD MOFO

Delonte Punches Wafer After Practice

Just days after reportedly coming to blows in practice, Delonte West and Von Wafer reportedly scuffle again and this time, the two had to be separated by teammates.

UPDATE: It would seem that Mr. West is blaming Wafer for a leaked meds story.

Boston Celtics Von Wafer Does Not Get It: Will He Be A Cancer?

Von Wafer is going to be an issue. I preface this piece with the following information. Von Wafer is a very talented scorer. He is also a great defender. The man is quick and athletic. Danny Ainge did well in signing the man on the gamble that he could possibly help this team at some point off the bench. The problem is not in Wafer’s physical skills or basketball skill set. Wafer’s...

Boston Celtics Von Wafer And Mario West Have Opportunity: Preseason Begins Tonight

The preseason battle lines are drawn. In one corner is the talented Von Wafer. Wafer is as everyone knows a very capable scorer. He can stroke from the outside and slash to the hoop. The best part is he even defends well.  He has proven once before that he can be a valuable piece to a playoff team’s puzzle. The major knocks are his work ethic and issues with coaches that saw...
