Pelicans Sign Greg Smith To Non-Guaranteed Deal

The New Orleans Pelicans have signed Greg Smith to a non-guaranteed deal. The Pelicans are thin at center following the injuries to Omer Asik and Alexis Ajinca. The Pelicans have several players vying for the remaining two spots on their 15-man roster. Smith spent three seasons with the Houston Rockets before joining the Dallas Mavericks.

Greg Smith Clears Waivers

Greg Smith has cleared waivers after being released this week by the Houston Rockets. Smith was waived in order for the Rockets to sign Dexter Pittman. Smith averaged 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 9.1 minutes in 11 appearances with the Rockets.

Rockets Sign Dexter Pittman, Release Greg Smith

The Houston Rockets agreed to sign Dexter Pittman while waiving Greg Smith. Smith has missed most of the season due to a knee injury. Pittman, who went to training camp with the Chicago Bulls and later signed a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks, has averaged 11.3 points and 6.8 rebounds with the Austin Toros of the NBA D-League.
