Mohamed Sanu, wide receiver out of Rutgers, was looking to get picked in the middle-to-late part of the first round.

He almost got his wish, however it turned out to be a rude, disgusting prank.

The Cincinnati Bengals had the 27th pick and a man prank called Sanu saying Cincinnati was going to draft him. They ended up taking Kevin Zeitler, leaving Sanu in disappointment.

Reports Peter King of Sports Illustrated:
The Rutgers wide receiver was on the edge of his seat late in the first round, with the Bengals on the clock at No. 27, when his phone rang. The voice on the other end of the phone identified himself as being from the Bengals, and said Cincinnati was about to pick him. Sanu and those in his draft party exploded in excitement, and agent Mike McCartney even tweeted that Sanu was a Bengal. Then Cincinnati pick Zeitler.
Real awful of the man to do such a thing.

Sanu's agent, Mike McCartney, tweeted that the Bengals were going to draft him, but then added these two tweets after he found out it was a fake call:

Very cruel prank call to a Sanu tonight - very sad that someone would do that. My apologies to the twitter world for my tweet.

Tough night. We all get knocked down in life and we gotta get back up.I believe in Mohamed Sanu as a player and person! @M0SAnu

Sanu was fine later, as he tweeted this morning:

Thank God for giving me another day and another opportunity to chase  my dream ... #thankfulandblessed

— Mohamed Sanu (@M0SAnu) April 27, 2012

Sanu shouldn't worry, because he'll be drafted today in the second round no matter what. Maybe the Bengals could draft him for sure this time.

Whatever team drafts the 23-year-old, they are going to have a great player with an amazing heart.

Bengals Make Bold Statement In Round 2

Positive or negative, there is sure to be plenty of reaction about the statement made by the Bengals’ war room on Day 2 of the 2012 draft. It is a statement we might expect to hear from a head coach that came up as a Defensive Coordinator: “You are not going to run on us!” In a division featuring Ray Rice — who has gashed the Bengals several times — and now Trent Richardson...

Mohamed Sanu Actually Drafted by Cincinnati Bengals Night After Prank Claiming First Round

Rutgers wide reciever Mohamed Sanu was, in fact, selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2012 NFL Draft--just not in the round he originally thought he was. Sanu got a phone call from a random number with a New Jersey area code Thursday night from a man saying he was with the Bengals organization. He then went on to tell Sanu that the team had taken him with the 27th overall pick...

CINCINNATI (AP) -- A judge dismissed an assault charge against Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga on Thursday after learning the dispute was settled in mediation. Cincinnati Bengals Draft Sanu

With the 83rd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu. Sanu, who was the victim of a prank involving the Bengals during the first round, joins fellow Rutgers legend Brian Leonard in Cincinnati.

Double Dip Of Draft Lovin’

The Bengals were one of 5 teams to make two selections in the first round, which I think automatically puts them in the top 5 of the draft so far. (Even if the sports media largely ignores them.) I am inclined to give the first round a “B+” grade. Like most of you, there were guys available that I thought would have made better picks. But they did address clear needs, and they...

Draft Day is finally here! In a few hours we will finally meet the newest class of Bengals, beginning tonight with two guys we hope to see be significant contributors for years to come. But before then, let’s take one more stab at who those guys might be. Let’s work backwards through the positions in their likelihood to be taken in the first round. “Ain’t Happening” 14...

Bengals go supersize on Night Two

The Bengals are beefing up for a run at the AFC's really big boys. Two of the Bengals' three picks in the NFL Draft Friday night were defensive tackles. Three of the five picks they've made through three rounds of the draft are 300-plus pound interior linemen. In Thursday night's first round, the Bengals drafted for need. Friday night, they went big with Penn...

Mohamed Sanu gets prank-called about being picked in the 2012 NFL Draft

For many college football players, waiting for the call during the NFL Draft is one of the most-nerve racking things in the world. Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu appeared that he didn't have to wait much longer as he called by someone saying that they worked for Cincinnati Bengals and that he was their selection at the 28th pick. Sadly for Sanu, the call ended up...

Draft recap and undrafted free agent signings

Well, it may have played out differently than most could have guessed, but man, the Bengals sure did seem to have a solid draft. After Bengals fans climbed off the ledge on Thursday (looking your direction Mr. Seuberling) and realized what the Bengals accomplished, the total pull by the Bengals looks to improve this team right away. Then, the Bengals went ahead and added to their...

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald Happy With Selection Of WR Michael Floyd

Earlier this week, Peter King of Sports Illustrated reported that Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald wanted his team to select Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd "badly". Given Fitzgerald's prominent voice in that organization, and the team's glaring need for another weapon in the passing game, the Cardinals selected Floyd with the 14th overall...

NFL Draft 2012: Detroit Lions Draft Speculation

Who is it going to be? Realistically, the Detroit Lions have to pick a player on Thursday. By the 23rd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, most of the high profile players will be off the board. There are more than enough holes to pick a player at any number of positions….and the defensive secondary comes directly to mind. The linebacking corp played pretty well during the season, yet...

Awkward Looks, Children’s Books, and Standout Rooks

The internet loves to talk about that show “Girls” on HBO.  Well, this website is featured on the internet, so it seems we should get into the act. (And to commenter “Beefcurtains,” who commented on the email to my brother I posted last week with a single word, “gay,” I say thanks for reading.  You are going to HATE what comes next. Go **** yourself.”) Here’s a...
