Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers tops Philly Sports World’s list of Top NFL QB’s for the Fantasy football season in 2012.

Philly Sports World proudly presents the first in our 6 part series to get you ready and up-to-date for the 2012 Fantasy Football season.  The key to winning your fantasy football league is to score more points than your opponents.  The base of any sound scoring philosophy is to pick a solid Quarterback, and Philly Sports World presents the Top 10 Quarterbacks for the  2012 season. Our experts rank the top 10 gunslingers in the NFL that are sure to pile up mega points for your team.

Top QB’s of Fantasy

1. Aaron Rodgers, Packers: How can anyone possibly pass on making Rodgers their number one quarterback pick? Last season Rodgers had his best season yet throwing 45 touchdowns to his 6 interceptions. The mobile Rodgers has the legs to give you some yards as well picking up 3 rushing touchdowns. Nothing coming out of the Packer camp would indicate this season will be any different. We’d take him with the first overall.

2.Cam Newton, Panthers: Taking Newton before Brady and Brees might seem a bit crazy if you believe in the sophomore slump, but obviously we do not. Newton in his rookie year threw for over 4000 yards and had 21 touchdown passes. Rushing for 14 touchdowns and 700 total yards on the ground last season makes Newton the ultimate weapon.

3. Tom Brady, Patriots: Last season was another typical Brady year. Throwing for 5200 yards and 39 touchdowns taking the Pats to the Superbowl, again. Brady will do it again this year without a doubt especially with the talent at tight end having one more year of experience.

4. Matthew Stafford, Lions: Taking Stafford here you might want to pick up a quality backup. Stafford has been prone to injury missing 11 games over two seasons. It is hard to argue his numbers even with missing time. Last year Stafford threw for over 5000 yards and 41 touchdowns despite missing time. Calvin Johnson, the best receiver in the league will be playing catch again with Stafford. I’ll take him for 11-12 games.

5. Drew Brees,  Saints: Passing for nearly 5500 yards and 46 touchdowns it is difficult not making Bree’s a number one pick. (he was mine the previous two seasons) The off-season has not been kind to the Saints creating far too much uncertainty that he can continue at the same level. By game four, I might be regretting this pick.

6. Tony Romo, Cowboys: With a solid receiving corps, Romo comes in at number six despite his lack of success. If Romo can duplicate 2011′s performance of 4000 plus yards and 41 touchdowns it would be a great late second/early third round pick.

7. Philip Rivers, Chargers: Frustrating is the perfect word to use if you have previously drafted Philip Rivers. His touchdown passes, 27 last season, make him a mid-third rounder. If your league deducts for interceptions (Rivers threw 20 last season) I would wait till the early fourth round.

8. Eli Manning, Giants: Falling just short of 5000 passing yards last season, Manning the two-time Super Bowl winner will give you a solid performance every week. If you struggle with the idea of having Rivers on your roster, grab Manning. Manning is a safe, solid pick.

9. Andrew Luck, Colts: The number one draft pick has the legs and the arm to put up decent points. The Colts are looking to improve on a horrific season and begin writing their post-Manning history. Prediction, 18 touchdowns passing 5 rushing.

10. Peyton Manning, Broncos: The thought of Manning being the comeback player of the year would be why I would take a shot on him. At 36, Manning is coming off multiple neck surgeries making him possibly a late third/early fourth pick. Having him as an insurance policy or if you are a risk taker, pick up Peyton and grab Big Ben with your next pick.
