What are the Kansas City Chiefs‘ best options with the No. 1 overall pick entering the 2013 NFL Draft? Photo Via NFL Official Facebook Page Albert Breer of NFL Network revealed that the team is down to four possibilities after speaking with general manager John Dorsey at the Chiefs’ headquarters last Monday.  Dorsey wouldn’t disclose who the players are, though he did mention that the Chiefs plan to make a final decision four days before the draft, which kicks into swing Thursday, April 25. The decision isn’t being taken lightly, as Breer noted that the Chiefs’ GM has been meeting with coach Andy Reid three times a day about the pick.  Dorsey also wouldn’t rule out the possibility of trading out of the top pick. Moving down might seem to be an unlikely scenario, but the team doesn’t have a second-round pick (traded away for Alex Smith) and several teams could have interest in trading up in order to secure one of the top two OTs (Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher), one of the top DL (Star ...

Andy Reid has some plans for Dexter McCluster

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told the Kansas City Star that there’s a place on his team for running back/wide receiver Dexter McCluster. “He’s not the biggest guy in the world, but he’s got a heart of a lion,” Reid said. “He’s got that … tremendous quickness and can catch. He’s pretty good at running the football, so there is a place for him. You line him up everywhere...

Bengals & Eagles Both Interested In LB Akeem Jordan

Aaron Wilson reports that the Eagles have extended free agent LB Akeem Jordan a contract offer to re-sign with them. Wilson adds that Jordan reportedly has interest from “multiple teams.“ Jordan is currently visiting the Bengals and talks between the two sides are believed to be going well. The Bengals could probably offer him more playing time than the Eagles, but it sounds...

For DeMeco Ryans switching from defensive end to linebacker no big deal

Bill Parcells used to say, ‘you’re telling me a guy can’t play because he doesn’t have his hand in the dirt?’ DeMeco Ryans is tired of the talk that he can’t make the switch from a 4-3 end, to a 3-4 outside linebacker. Ryans feels it’s no big deal, matter of fact he played outside linebacker for the highly ranked Houston Texans defense before going to Philadelphia...

Report: Chiefs Contact OL Ryan Lilja About Returning For Another Season

Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star reports the Chiefs have reached out to retired OL Ryan Lilja about possibly returning for another season. Teicher’s source added that Lilja is “receptive to the idea.” Lilja, 31, was set to become an unrestricted free agent, but his decision to retire had a lot to do with the toll that football was taking on his body. “Physically, you...

Chip Kelly: “Mike (Vick) can still play”

Categories: BREAKING NEWS Eagles News QuarterbacksTags: Chip KellyMichael VickPhiladelphia EaglesAfter taking a look at the Eagles game footage from a year ago, Birds head coach Chip Kelly made it clear that he and his coaching staff believe Michael Vick can still be a productive quarterback. Much of the Eagles fan based moaned when Kelly gave his assessment of Vick, because...

The two things that I'm praying the Eagles aren't going to do

Do Not Want 1) Trading for Darrelle Revis First off, the obvious. Revis is, when healthy, the best corner in pro football, and it's not even all that close. He ends WR1s, make interceptions despite teams trying to avoid him, tackles well for a corner and stays relatively quiet for a player of his position and pedigree. At age 27, he should have another 3 to 5 years of peak...

In defense of Jeremy Maclin...and Mel Kiper's history of draft picks...

Jeremy Maclin has gotten a "bad rap" as guy who avoids contact after a catch....it's getting out of hand. I was doing a late-night jam with J. "Woody"  Wood over at OTI when the subject of Maclin came up. We both agreed that Tommy Lawlor is one of our favorite Eagles writers. His latest article is entitled "The Chip Effect". If you haven&...

Does Joeckel deserve to be the first overall pick?

Unless the Kansas City Chiefs are offered a deal to trade-down, odds are, they are going to select one of the safest players in the 2013 NFL Draft. Luke Joeckel started the last three seasons and on one of the most prestigious positions of the offensive line. His size and athleticism earned him the Outland Trophy and the prestigious Jacobs Blocking Trophy which is given annually...

Report: Jets to Host Geno Smith on Two-Day Visit

While the Jets have previously been linked to quarterbacks more likely to be taken in the second round, they’re starting to show some real interest in the consensus best signal caller in the 2013 draft. New York is hosting Geno Smith on a two-day visit on Wednesday and Thursday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. The Jets hold the No. 9 pick in the NFL draft and could acquire...
