Two former Louisville Cardinal football players will receive Super Bowl rings. Former offensive lineman Breno Giacomini and former defensive end Greg Scruggs are both members of the 2013 Seattle Seahawks.
Although both were in attendance for Sunday night’s game, Giacomini was the only one who actually participate in the game. Greg Scruggs is in his second year with the Seattle franchise, but missed the entire season after tearing his ACL last spring. Scruggs had a solid rookie season in 2012 and was expected to make an impact on this year’s team.
Giacomini has been the full time starter at right tackle for Seattle for the past two seasons. He played tight end and tackle during his Louisville career. He is one of the many recruits to sign with Louisville under Bobby Petrino that have went on to have sucessful pro careers.
The University of Louisville football program now has 17 former players who have been a part of Super Bowl
