As a fan, you vote for your favorite players to participate in the Pro Bowl granting them a huge honor, but in reality you secretly hope they are not participating. Most likely they aren’t. This is a great time to be a replacement however. This year there will be a lot of them. 29 to be exact. To help fill an empty roster of injured players, such as Robert Griffin III, Matt Ryan, and an “injured” Aaron Rodgers, six quarterbacks from the NFC will be selected to go to the Pro Bowls. That’s almost 40 percent of the quarterbacks in the conference. Don’t expect to see Tom Brady as well; he will be replaced by Andrew Luck. The Pro Bowl can be viewed by some as an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii for the best players to pass the ball around, but you’re not going to see lots of defense or anything remotely exciting. It just doesn’t hold the same value as it once did in the past. The week following the playoffs waiting for the Super Bowl, you really expect fans to get excited watching replacements play in Hawaii? Sounds like a tease to me, but you be the judge. The NFL has already discussed getting rid of the Pro Bowl if things didn’t change, and with the decline of stars and a low volume of excitement the end of demise maybe near for the NFL’s Pro Bowl. The NFC is a 2.5 favorite to win. Since I typically go against the standard pick, I’ll go with AFC to win this game.
