Kansas City Chiefs
The secret is out on our Chiefs. We loyal brethren have suffered through thick and thin, waiting for this moment: fielding a relevant team. Now all the talking heads are on the bandwagon too. Could you envision in your wildest dreams the storyline heading into Week 6 being, “are the Chiefs really this good or is their record a farce?” While it drives me nuts to listen to that argument play out, I have to remember that it’s the best kind of argument you want to hear being discussed about your team. The problem I have now is the fair-weather fans and TV analysts that think they know this team…OUR team. I can’t listen anymore to how well “Alex Smith has managed games and failed to turn the ball over.” Congrats on your award-worthy commentary Mr. TV-Hack. What about, “this team will go as far as its top-rated defense will take it”? Another dynamite drop-in Monty, that broadcasting school really paid off. Let’s leave the in-depth analysis to ones who actually know this team inside and out...

With running back Darren McFadden still listed as questionable by the Raiders and Oakland being uncertain as to whether or not he will play on Sunday, the Chiefs’ greatest worry on defense is quarterback Terrelle Pryor. His ability to hurt a defense with his arm and his feet make him the biggest threat to ending the Kansas City Chiefs’ winning streak.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- There may have been a bit of good news for the Chiefs on Thursday: Linebacker Justin Houston, second in the league in sacks with 8 12, was back at practice in a helmet and going through warm-ups.
Whether Houston, who suffered concussion-like symptoms after the Tennessee game Sunday, can play this Sunday remains uncertain.
The Chiefs are taking the cautious approach...
The Kansas City Chiefs will be 6-0 by 4:15 tomorrow. Andy Reid has his Chiefs off to a great start and we don’t see the Raiders being able to do much against the Chiefs defense. The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the best defenses in the NFL this season. Ranked 7th overall, we have to say they aren’t getting the respect they deserve. They are ranked 4th against the pass and...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The man is all beard and no filter. Sean McGrath calls it like he sees it, straight-up, no crap. When he loves something, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end's eyes light up like the Plaza in December, the giant whiskers giving him the affectation of a young Santa Claus -- only a Santa Claus who's 6-foot-5, 247 pounds and could stomp your ribs to freaking...
After reviewing game film, Sports Illustrated's Greg Bedard says that Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe lacks explosion and cannot beat man coverage anymore.Fantasy Spin:"Defenses don't fear him at all," Bedard said. Bowe is having difficulty separating from cornerbacks and ultra-conservative QB Alex Smith is not going to force the ball to him. The 29-year-old Bowe has...
Despite picking at the top of the 2013 NFL Draft the Chiefs haven’t received much production from their rookie class. But they struck it big in what can be called their second draft.
Those are the seven players the Chiefs claimed on waivers during the opening week of the season after NFL teams reduced their rosters to 53 players.
The Chiefs based on their 2-14 record of a year...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Even the most muffled clap seemed to echo throughout Arrowhead Stadium last season as the Kansas City Chiefs stumbled their way through one of the worst seasons in franchise history.
Now, a group of fans is trying to restore the roar.
When the unbeaten Chiefs welcome old rival Oakland to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, the fans will be trying to break a Guinness...
Alex Smith was never a Raider. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has played the team only twice in eight-plus seasons yet he’s as familiar with the Raiders as any team after spending so much time across the Bay.
Smith spent eight tumultuous years with the San Francisco 49ers before being traded to Kansas City in the offseason adding dimensions to this AFC West matchup.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Ah, yes, in the 1990s, Raiders Week used to be special.
Billboards all around town used to stir up the rivalry. Raider-Hater parties were nightly occurrences.
And at Arrowhead, Chiefs players started getting amped up first thing Monday morning. Marty Schottenheimer made sure of it.
As former Chiefs center Tim Grunhard once told me, "It was crazy. We'...
Chiefs tight end Anthony Fasano (ankle, knee) is listed as doubtful for Week 6 against the Raiders.Fantasy Spin:Fasano hasn't played since Week 2 against the Cowboys. He's without a timetable for a return. Backup Sean McGrath has 13 catches for 149 yards and a touchdown over the last three games and is a TE2 consideration this week.
On paper this one is not going to be fun for the silver and black. On the field it just might surprise everyone involved. Especially the Jolly Walrus and his crew. This is the epitome of what we call a trap game. One team is on a roll, stomping the guts out of everyone they play. One is a tweener, neither good or bad defines them, but it is clear the effort is there. The team on the...
Earlier this season, Seattle Seahawks fans set the record for the loudest crowd noise in an outdoor sports stadium, and now there is a competition with another sports franchise to try to break the Seahawks fans record. The surprising unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs have given their fans something to cheer for again after winning only two games in the 2012 season. According to the Miami...
The Chiefs and the Raiders have a rivalry that burns hot regardless of whether the games themselves have any real meaning. Which is a good thing, because in recent years both the Chiefs and the Raiders have been little more than laughingstocks in the eyes of the rest of the league. Both teams are starting to change that this year. The Chiefs are 5-0 and sport a defense that even the...
Oakland Raiders (2-3) at Kansas City Chiefs (5-0)
Before the season, the Raiders were expected to be an all-time bad team. That hasn’t happened, as they are 2-3 right now and credit Reggie McKenzie and Dennis Allen for building a passable team despite over 50 million in dead money on their cap. However, I think they’re a little overrated right now. They’re not a good football...
Alex Smith: Hey coach, I’ve game managed this game real good. How’s about letting me open things up a little and take a shot downfield?Andy Reid: Hmm. I don’t know, Alex. I think it’d be best if we just stick with what’s been working for us.Alex Smith: C’mon, we’re playing the Raiders. I can take a few risks. I can do this. Let me prove myself. I can be a big time big...
