SAN FRANCISCO -- In a battle of backup quarterbacks, San Francisco's Colin Kaepernick outplayed Chicago's Jason Campbell, leading the 49ers to a convincing 32-7 victory over the Bears on Monday night at Candlestick Park. Both teams' regular quarterbacks -- San Francisco's Alex Smith and Chicago's Jay Cutler -- missed the game with concussions. Kaepernick, a second-round draft pick out of Nevada last year, made his first career NFL start. Campbell, in his eighth NFL season, started for the 76th time in his career, but the first time for the Bears. Campbell entered the game with 14,511 career passing yards to just 241 for Kaepernick. However, once the game began, it was Kaepernick who played like a veteran, helping the 49ers beat the Bears at Candlestick for the eighth straight time.
