The reeling San Francisco 49ers defense already had plenty to be concerned with this week before the added distraction of Aldon Smith's arrest.
First and foremost: Quarterback Andrew Luck, running back Trent Richardson and the new-look offense of the Indianapolis Colts.
The 49ers look to rebound from last week's tough loss in Seattle with a banged-up lineup.
San Francisco will be breaking in a new starting nose tackle against the Colts, has yet to gain clearance for starting rookie safety Eric Reid and has three other key starters who either missed practice or were limited this week with injuries.
But a defense that ranked third in the NFL last season is accustomed to the adversity and welcomes the challenge of a Colts backfield strengthened earlier this week when the team added Richardson via trade.

Last night, when I heard about the trade via the same medium as Trent Richardson himself I was shocked, like all of you. Those who read my piece on how Richardson would shine in Norv Turner’s system know I loved his set up in Cleveland. Instead, he’s in Indy where they are working on collecting the entire set of top 5 picks from the 2012 draft. They only have two, of course,...
It’s already been an exciting week 3. The Indianapolis Colts traded their 2014 first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for running back Trent Richardson. Richardson was the 3rd overall pick in 2012, behind Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III.

When the Cleveland Browns traded Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a first round pick in the 2014 draft the popular notion was this: what in the world are the Cleveland Browns thinking? Yes, maybe he hasn't been the stud that he was in college, but that's because the offense as a whole seriously lacked play makers.
Now the Browns...
Like most people, I was shocked to hear the Browns had traded Trent Richardson, the third overall pick of the 2012 draft, to the Indianapolis Colts. I didn't think much could surprise me in this league anymore, but you just don't see trades like this happen these days. Especially with such a marquee, so-called franchise player like this, only two games into his second season...

In one of the most shocking in-season trades in NFL history, sophomore running back Trent Richardson has been dealt from the Cleveland Browns to the Indianapolis Colts.
Only 16 months ago, Richardson entered the league as the most highly-touted rookie back since Adrian Peterson, but there's a new regime in Cleveland now -- one that has zero ties to that Richardson selection...
This trade the Cleveland Browns made shipping Trent Richardson off to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2014 first round pick doesn't bother me because I'm just more of a Tribe fan and a baseball guy more than I follow football. On the surface, it looks like a solid trade for both teams, because of their current status regarding being close to winning.
Then, I wondered how I...

San Francisco 49ers star outside linebacker Aldon Smith will be out indefinitely after his arrest for suspected DUI Friday morning.
Brandon Weeden has a sprained right thumb but the Cleveland Browns quarterback will not require surgery.
The Browns will start third string quarterback Brian Hoyer in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings. Hoyer will become the 19th different quarterback to start for the Browns since re-entering the NFL in 1999.
Weeden injured his thumb late in the Browns loss to Baltimore last Sunday...
