They are widely considered the best team in football, but they'll have to prove it against the Green Bay Packers this weekend.
The 2010 world champion Packers are rounding into shape, and although there is high regard for the 49ers, Green Bay has all the pieces to beat them.
Patrick Willis, who split time with Navarro Bowman in the first game with the Packers in September in an attempt to get more speed on the field, will see more reps this time around.
The All-Pro defensive leader of the most feared defensive unit in the league knows it is win or go home time. In 2011, they came so close, getting edged out by eventual champions, the New York Giants.
A thorn in many teams’ sides, the Giants will be watching from home this year. It’s anybody’s game now, and Willis wants in on the action. He spoke to 95.7 the Game in San Francisco with the Wheelhouse about getting started this weekend.
“I was watching playoff games this week and just seeing the enthusiasm and just remember the feeling we felt last year to be playing those games and to realize that we have two games that we have to win to get to the Super Bowl and three to win it, that’s amazing.
Those opportunities don’t come around often and to have a bye and be fresh, it’s right here in front of us and we have to take advantage of the opportunity. That’s all that matters. I know for me my whole mindset has been, as soon as I woke up this morning, nothing else matters in this whole world but winning this game Saturday and nothing else matters but winning the Super Bowl.
These next three or four weeks that is the only thing that matters to me. I know my family and the ones that love me understand if I don’t talk as much or I can’t hang out as much, they understand. For those that don’t then I apologize ahead of time.”

Denver, New England and Green Bay each have a future Hall of Fame Quarterback on their roster. This weekend is going to have some great QB play.
The Wildcard round brought us some pretty bad games. The marque quarterbacks were on a bye so this week should be a lot better.
Here are the quarterbacks and how they stack-up

The San Francisco 49ers expect all players on their active

The San Francisco 49ers decided on a little healhty competition at the kicker position in an effort to light a fire under David Akers, who apparently righted the ship, beating out Billy Cundiff to kick in Saturday night's playoff matchup with the Green Bay Packers.
Head coach Jim Harnbaugh made his decision Thursday, but Akers isn't in the clear beyond Saturday. The team...
Everywhere David Akers goes, he’s beset by revelers. When he leaves his home. When he goes to pick up his dry cleaning. When he walks his dog. When he meets with his dealer in the park. The dancers are there. So it should be no surprise that they are waiting when he came out to warm up in the second half. He had to shoo them away. Because he must always shoo them away. The dancers...
As Coach Harbaugh ponders what happened in 2012 and looks forward to the 2013 season, I believe there are three resolutions he needs to make with the team to help bring them to a better place in 2013. First of all it's time we make it back to a Super Bowl. It's been 18 years already, and as well all know, the 49ers are unique in that they've been to five Super Bowls...
Colin Kaepernick repeatedly raced past the Green Bay defense on option runs. Frank Gore barreled over the Packers on more traditional plays.
A week after holding 2,000-yard rusher Adrian Peterson in check, the Packers were run over by the San Francisco 49ers and sent home from the playoffs with a 45-31 loss Saturday night.
The Packers (12-6) came into the game brimming with confidence...

In Part 2 of our five-part series previewing Saturday night's NFC divisional playoff game, NinersDigest’s Craig Massei and PackerReport’s Bill Huber break down the matchups when the 49ers hand the football to Colin Kaepernick and the passing game.
This evening’s divisional playoff game features the Green Bay Packers taking on the San Francisco 49ers. Weather will not play a role in tonight’s contest. Afternoon high temperatures of the low 50′s under sunny skies will give way to a clear night with temperatures in the mid-40′s. This playoff game will be one of three in the divisional round which features a rematch of...

This could very well be one of the finer divisional weekends in NFL history depending on how the NFC matchups end up, and this game tops them all.
San Francisco and Green Bay are two of the more prestigious franchises in the NFL, and they have had several thrilling finishes in the postseason.
One that comes to mind would be the game where Jerry Rice fumbled and...
