The 49ers expect to add two veteran wide receivers to their 53-man roster this season coach Jim Harbaugh said on Monday. But there appears to be nothing imminent on acquiring a player via a trade. The 49ers are “unlikely” to agree to a trade with the Cleveland Browns for wide receiver Josh Gordon ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday. The sides have reportedly discussed the possibility of a trade. A report first surfaced in last month that Gordon was on the trade block. Cleveland.com reported it was unlikely Gordon would be dealt and if he was it would only be because he is one strike away from a one-year suspension under the NFL’s policy on substances of abuse. The Browns acquired Gordon in the second round of the 2012 supplemental draft. As a rookie Gordon caught 50 passes for 805 yards and five touchdowns. In three games this season he has 18 receptions for 303 yards and two touchdowns. But help of a different kind appears to be on the way for the 49ers. Mario Manningham who is returning from a torn ACL he sustained late last season could begin practicing next week after spending the required first six weeks of the regular season on the reserve/physically-unable-to-perform list. Despite appearing in just 12 games last season Manningham was the 49ers' second-leading wide receiver with 42 receptions for 449 yards. Also Michael Crabtree who caught a team-best 85 passes for 1105 yards last season is on target for a late-season return Harbaugh said. Crabtree underwent surgery on May 22 to repair a torn Achilles. He could be back for the 49ers in mid- to late-November.
