The New Orleans Saints moved to 4-0 after a dominant performance on Monday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins. Last season, it took the Saints ten weeks to get to that win total. If one were asked how the Saints made it to 4-0, they would probably answer by saying the offense is prolific while the defense tags along for the ride. However, surprisingly, the Saints have been one of the most complete teams in the league this season. Everyone knows how great the offense is this season and seasons past. It continues its productive ways behind the arm of Drew Brees. In addition, Sean Payton has been abusing defenses with the mismatch nightmares that are Darren Sproles and Jimmy Graham.  The offense still has a ways to go however. The running game has been lethargic and unproductive partly due to poor offensive line play. Also, this has been the worst performance by the offensive line when it comes to protecting Brees as they have given up 12 sacks in 4 games. Nonetheless, this offense is still one of the tops in the league and is definitely good enough to win a Super Bowl. The other side of the ball has been the surprise this season. This unit has gone from the worst unit in the league last season to a top 5 unit this season. The Saints have plenty of talent on the defensive line with Akiem Hicks, Cameron Jordan, and Junior Galette. And those three complement a secondary that is revamped with rookie Kenny Vaccaro and free agent acquisition Keenan Lewis. The defense is causing turnovers the same way the 2009 Super Bowl Saints did. Though improved, the defense is still very leaky against the run as they rank 22nd in the league. As this defense improves, the Saints will become that much scarier. The Saints are off to a fast start and unlike years past have a defense that is able to match the offense’s execution. For this reason, an argument can be made that the Saints are one of the most complete teams in the league right next to the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos; and for that reason the Saints are 4-0 and looking strong.
