One of the cool things, at least I think so, is when a former Steeler player decides to officially end their career as part of the black ‘n gold. Sure it’s just a formality but when you think about the memories those big names have given us over the years, it only seems fitting to see Marvel, Aaron, Fast Willie, and Peazy all say goodbye to the NFL as Pittsburgh Steelers. Ed Bouchette announced this afternoon via Twitter that all 4 players would be in attendance at the annual Steelers training camp night practice at Latrobe High School. Each will be announced before practice starts, a huge treat for all those in attendance for what is always the most fun time at camp as fan. It used to be common place to sign players to 1 day contracts to officially go out with the team of their choice, but that’s not the norm anymore because of things such as the salary cap. With many teams riding close to the edge of their spending ability each year, even a 1 day deal could cause issues. GM Kevin ...

Ben Roethlisberger Injuries Left Ankle But Not Deemed Serious

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger apparently had his left foot stepped on late in practice on Saturday and he ended up watching the rest of practice standing on the sideline with a ice pack taped to his ankle. Head coach Mike Tomlin did not seem too concerned about the injury following practice and said that the quarterback just had his foot stepped on. Guard Willie...

An Early Look At The Steelers 2013 Salary Cap Situation

I have had several emails as of late asking about the 2013 salary cap situation for the Pittsburgh Steelers and I now have time to knock out a post about it. Several are worried about all of the restructures over the last few seasons and what it has done to 2013. The other worry is that the salary cap will remain flat in 2013, which it likely will. Let us first start off by...

Meet The Goodells: Pittsburgh Steelers

Crazy Steelers fans are something else… PITTSBURGH STEELERS: 2011 RECORD – 12-4: The Baltimore Ravens completed a season sweep of the Steelers, and in turn relegated Pittsburgh to wild card weekend. A run-in with the NFL’s messiah led to an early postseason exit for the defending AFC champs. While the Denver loss was shocking, the seeds for an early Pittsburgh playoff...

2012 Steelers training camp: Is Willie Colon the next Chris Kemoeatu?

So one of the big stories in camp, as if there weren’t enough already, is the return of Willie Colon and of course his move to guard from tackle. If you’ve been following any of the chatter coming out of camp so far one of the things you’ve noticed is all the scrapping going on. Mike Tomlin likes this kind of intensity in camp, it shows the players care about what they’re...

Steelers offensive line embraces 'nastiness'

Ramon Foster gives a wide smile, looks to the ground sheepishly and laughs quietly. Like most of the men he lines up next to on the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line, Foster is affable, fun-loving and often flashes that smile - off the field, anyway. In the trenches? A different story. Much different. What induced Foster's chuckle on a muggy late morning earlier this week...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Antonio Brown Their Next Great WR

Here’s a great Pittsburgh Steelers trivia question (for die-hard Black-N-Gold fans):  During the 10-year span from 1981-1991, who was the only Steelers' wide receiver to lead the team in receiving yards in a season, other than John Stallworth and Louis Lipps?   Here’s another one: How many different receivers have led the team in receiving yards during the past 30 years...

Bruised ankle keeps Big Ben out

A day after leaving practice a few minutes early because a teammate stepped on his foot during a drill, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger did not practice Sunday. The two-time Super Bowl winner denied a Saturday report that he had a left ankle sprain, characterizing it as a ''simple bruise.'' ''He should be fine,'' coach Mike Tomlin...

Rashard Mendenhall’s timetable is unclear

Getty Images According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall has indicated that he’s on schedule with his recover from ACL surgery.  The problem is that he doesn’t know when he’ll be ready to get back on the field. “Seven months to the day after tearing the ACL in his right knee, Rashard Mendenhall said on Wednesday that he’s...

Antonio Brown contract the death knell for Wallace as a Steeler?

It’s a pretty simple concept; the Steelers ask Mike Wallace to sign his tender, come to camp and negotiate on good faith or they would cease negotiations. This is something the Steelers should be considered good for as they have no history of screwing over a player this way before. Of course, Mike Wallace held [...]

Pittsburgh Steelers Favorites to Reclaim AFC North Throne From Baltimore Ravens

Whenever a club other than the Pittsburgh Steelers or Baltimore Ravens wins the AFC North Division, it’s considered an upset. And that would be the case again in 2012 as the Steelers and Ravens are clear-cut favorites to win arguably the NFL’s most physical division. Baltimore finished 12-4 overall last year to tie with Pittsburgh atop the North, but the Ravens won the tiebreaker...

Jack Butler went from low profile into HOF

Jack Butler didn't play football in high school. He picked up the game in college at St. Bonaventure and entered the NFL as an undrafted player in 1951, just another guy filling out the Pittsburgh Steelers' roster. He's not just another player anymore. Butler was the second of six players inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night. Running back Curtis...

Mike Wallace’s contract situation With Mike Wallace’s holdout set to continue thoughout all of training camp and possibly some of preseason, you have to wonder what affect it will have on his play.
