Just before the Dallas Cowboys took the field to play the Bengals in Cincinnati; nose tackle Josh Brent went to court in Irving for arraignment on his intoxication manslaughter charge where bail was set at $500,000. The punishment for the charge can be up to 20 years in prison.According to George Milner the attorney that is representing Brent on this matter seems to think that the bail amount is too high stating that; “The amount is 17 times what it should be. That a bail amount of $500,000 is what people that are charged with capital murder get.”It has also noticeable that Brent needs medical attention. He has been seen with bandages on his head and arm. It also seems that he has an apparent neck injury. As soon as Brent posts bail he will be able to receive the needed treatment for his injuries.Brent was arrested early Saturday morning in connection with the death of teammate and close friend Jerry Brown. Brent was reportedly involved in an automobile accident that caused his car to flip. According to the affidavit released by the Irving police department; Jerry Brown died at 2:57 a.m at Dallas' Parkland Hospital. The affidavit released also states that the officers did a mandatory blood alcohol test after Brent refused to submit one on his own after admitting to having a drink. Since the test was a mandatory draw the results will take a couple of weeks to come back.Josh Brent has played 3 years with the Cowboys after being drafted in the seventh round of the 2010 supplemental draft. He has played all 12 games so far in the 2012 season heading into today. Brent has been a nice contributor when he has played being involved in 22 tackles and 1.5 sacks an the season. He was scheduled to start for injured Jay Ratliff against the Bengals. Before being drafted by the Cowboys Brent played college football at the University of Illinois from 2007-2009 where he started 12 games his junior season. He was arrested after the 2009 season for a DUI and spent 30 days in jail.Jerry Brown had more of a difficult path to the NFL just recently signing to the Cowboys practice squad on October 24th. He also appeared at linebacker in 1 game for the Colts this season. He also played in the Arena league for the San Antonio Talons before making his stop in Indianapolis.Brown also played in the AFL for the Jacksonville Sharks and in the Canadian Football league for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Before turning pro Brown played defensive end at Illinois where he also ran into issues after the 2009 season.
