During the 2012 season the Kansas City Chiefs earned the top draft pick in April with their 2-14 record, but were not the worst team in the league. Other than passing the ball on offense and stopping the run on defense, the Chiefs were an above average team.Their rushing offense was ranked 5th in the league behind the running of Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis, but passing the ball was a different story. The Chiefs had the 32nd ranked passing offense with Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn as their quarterbacks.Cassel began his career as the backup to Tom Brady in New England. He happened to have a decent season after Brady was injured during the Patriots' 2008 season opener where he would go on to complete 63.4 percent of his passes for 3,693 yards and 21 touchdowns. Since that one magical season, Cassel has failed to complete 60 percent of his passes, and only passes for over 3,000 yards once. Also Cassel has been injury prone season after season proving why he is only good for enough games to be a backup.Quinn was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2007 out of Notre Dame with the belief he was the second coming of Joe Montana to some people. Not only has Quinn proven to be anything but the great Montana, he could not even beat Tim Tebow out for a starting job with the Denver Broncos.Over his six-year career, Quinn has only played in 24 games with zero appearances over two seasons. He has completed 53.8 percent of his passes for 3,043 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also has had 22 turnovers during those games. It is clear that the main focus in 2013 for the Chiefs should be at the quarterback position, and to fix their secondary that ranked 27th in the league. They can find a quarterback in the Draft that can lead their team back on top of the AFC West, but there are plenty of free agents on the defensive side of the ball to help the cause. The first first two players the Chiefs should focus on signing during the free agency period are Hillis and wide receiver Dwayne Bowe. Here are five other players that can help the Chiefs return to greatness, and to the game they first made famous with the Green Bay Packers -- the Super Bowl.
