This week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Ben Volin of the Boston Globe. Ben used to be on our side as a Dolphins beat reporter and columnist of the Palm Beach Post. However, Ben now covers the Patriots in Boston for the Globe. Ben can be followed on Twitter at @BenVolin...please follow Ben for insight this week about our rival, the New England Patriots and in future weeks given that we will play the Patriots again later in the season.
First of all thank you for taking the time to do this interview. I am sure a lot of fans in Miami and fans of the Dolphins won't forget your writing and interviews while working for the Post. Congrats on your position with the Boston Globe! Let's cut to the chase!
1. Based on your coverage of the Patriots, what stands out as the single most important detail that has driven this team to a 5-2 record?
The defense has been pretty outstanding this year, at least before they lost Vince Wilfork (Achilles) ...

The New England Patriots have announced that they’ve signed free agent defensive end Andre Carter and defensive tackle Sealver Siliga to the practice squad. They also released ornerback Travis Howard from the practice squad. Carter, 34, was with the Patriots during the 2011 season and earned his first Pro Bowl selection after registering double-digit sacks (10.0) for the fourth...
Today DeadSpin came out with an interesting article regarding New England Patriot’s tight end Rob Gronkowski. Gronkowski has been known to party with women, but this time the guy will be partying with smart girls. The course is 99 dollars and takes place on November 11th. You have to be over the age 21 because […]
FOXBORO, Mass. — It would not be wise to expect Andre Carter to play at the same level he exhibited in 2011 with the Patriots. But the veteran pass rusher could be a boost to an already decent pass rush in New England.
Carter was not a highly sought-out free agent when the Patriots picked him up in 2011. He was coming off a season with just 2 1/2 sacks in five starts with the...
“In the Patriots’ 4-2-5 nickel and 4-1-6 dime packages, rookie Michael Buchanan has...
According to ProFootballTalk.com, Patriots cornerback Logan Ryan has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for grabbing his crotch after he scored a touchdown off an interception last week.
Per league source, Pats CB Logan Ryan has been fined $10,000 for his mid-air crotch grab while scoring a touchdown against the Jets.

Just a few days after grabbing his crotch while celebrating a touchdown, Logan Ryan will be grabbing his wallet, as he’s scheduled to shell out some serious dough for the act. Ryan, who picked off Jets quarterback Geno Smith and returned for a touchdown in the Patriots’ loss to their division rivals, celebrated the feat by jumping backward into the end zone and grabbing at his...
Chandler Jones is having a hell of a season.
The Patriots team as a whole isn't near the top of the list in terms of pass rush, but the defensive end in his sophomore year is certainly right up there with the best of the outside rushers.
Jones leads his teammates in nearly every category. He currently has 6.5 sacks (more than he had all of last year), he has 13 quarterback...
New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski who made his season debut in Week 7 and finished with a team-high eight catches for 114 yards said Wednesday that everything checked out well related to his health and that he's going to put his injuries in the past.
"I felt good" he said. "Everything checked out well. And all with the injury stuff and everything I...
In football timing is everything. From the timing between a wide receiver and quarterback on a simple passing route to the timing needed for a franchise to flourish with multiple stars hitting their prime at the same time, it is ultimately what determines the short term and long term success of a team.
On Sunday, the Patriots had no timing whatsoever. Tom Brady finished with...

Andre Carter has now officially signed with the Patriots, returning to Foxboro once again. Carter previously played for the Pats in 2011, when he had a career year. Before his injury Carter totaled 10 sacks which still tied for leading on the team that season. He was also honored as a Pro Bowl selection, the first/only time of his career. Unfortunately...
Bill Belichick and Rex Ryan are playing the blame game again and neither side wants to admit any fault for what many fans are now referring to as "Pushgate."

Remarkably, the headline is true. Tom Brady is currently leading the league in overthrown and under-thrown balls this season as according to a tweet via @ESPNStatsInfo. Tom Brady has either overthrown or under-thrown the ball 71 times.
But why is this? Tom Brady was deadly accurate in the preseason and training camp and now he is seemingly...
On Sunday, the Jets escaped a game against the rival New England Patriots thanks to a controversial penalty on a deep Jets FG attempt in overtime. Now that the dust has settled, more information is coming out about the play and the hustle and bustle around it.
According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, the Jets coaching staff was already aware of New England’s past use of an illegal...
The New England Patriots last lost two straight AFC East games in 2006 - to the New York Jets followed by the Miami Dolphins four weeks later.
They'll try to stay atop the division and avoid a second straight loss within it Sunday at home against the Dolphins - a week after their 30-27 loss to the Jets.
Despite the return of tight end Rob Gronkowski, the offense continued to...
The Patriots offense owes a big thank you to the Red Sox for largely distracting Boston fans from their struggles. However, the few times Boston fans have been able to pry their attention away from Johnny Gomes' majestic beard, it's been to ask what has gone wrong with the Patriots offense.
In case you've missed it, the Patriots have gone 7-39 on third down in their...
