ESPN's Jamison Hensley covers the AFC North, and it's mostly great news and notes on the division we love (and love to hate). He broke down 7 keys for the Steelers moving forward and they are quite interesting. Here they are. 1. Fix left tackle. 2. Lean on Le'Veon Bell. 3. Get Cameron Heyward on the Field More. 4. Tackle the Catch. 5. Win the Turnover Battle. 6. Get After the Passer. 7. Take Better Care of the Ball. Well, numbers 4 through 7 are true for all 32 teams. The Steelers are not getting the bounces right now, but the point here is to make your own luck through harder work so we'll just take those as gospel and move on. What's been troubling is the struggle on the defensive side, which was hasn't been able to stop anybody. Number one above is obvious and is definitely a project the Steelers are actively working on through the trade to bring in Levi Brown from the Cardinals. The jury's out on t...

Steelers OC Todd Haley Being Sued For Backing Out Of Home Deal And Trashing House

According to WPXI-TV, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley is being sued  by a home builder, who is accusing him of backing out of a million-dollar house deal. That's not all, Haley is also being accused of trashing the home in question. The station reports that investigator Rick Earle has obtained a copy of the lawsuit filed against Haley and his wife Christine...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Thoughts on acquiring Levi Brown

The Pittsburgh Steelers recently made a trade for tackle Levi Brown of the Arizona Cardinals. The offensive line for the Steelers this season is a disaster and is playing a key roll in the Steelers 0-4 start to the season. Is Levi Brown someone who’ll bring some improvement to this horrendous offensive line? In the Steelers most recent loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Ben Roethlisberger...

What Kind of Changes Were You Expecting From Tomlin?

Mike Tomlin’s first press conference as the head coach of an 0-4 team was short, poorly attended and offered the usual clichés and the overuse of the word, “obviously.” It also provided us with a couple of changes for Sunday’s game in New York against the Jets. First, Kelvin Beachum will get the start at left tackle and will be backed up by newly acquired Levi Brown. This...

Three Questions Facing The Steelers Coming Out Of The Bye

The Pittsburgh Steelers get back to work following their bye week as they will prepare to face the New York Jets next Monday. Below are three questions that need to be answered over the course of this next week. Who is going to play left tackle? The Steelers traded for Levi Brown last week, but he will not practice with the team until Monday. Being as the team has Tuesday off, that...

Mike Tomlin Says Levi Brown Was A ‘Critical Acquisition’

During his Tuesday press conference, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin might have dropped a few hints as to what he thinks the starting offensive line might actually be Sunday against the New York Jets. The Steelers of course acquired veteran tackle Levi Brown via a trade last week with the Arizona Cardinals and Tomlin called the move a "critical acquisition" during...

Checking In On The Players The Steelers Parted Ways With This Past Offseason

The Pittsburgh Steelers decided to let several of their unrestricted free agents walk this past offseason and they parted ways with a few other veterans under contract in addition. Here is a quick look at how their former players have done so far this season as week five comes to a close Monday night. Rashard Mendenhall - In five games with the Arizona Cardinals, Mendenhall has 69...

Steelers Injury Report: Tomlin Says Foster’s Work In Pads Later In The Week Will Be Critical

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin met the media on Tuesday for his weekly press conference in preparation for the Sunday game against the New York Jets and updated the injury situation during the beginning of his talk. Safety Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith (hip) is dealing with a left hip flexor injury that he suffered in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings and Tomlin termed him...

Steelers Rookie WR Markus Wheaton To Miss Game Against The Jets

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie receiver Markus Wheaton will not play Sunday against the New York Jets as he works to recover from a broken pinky suffered in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings. WR Markus Wheaton says he will miss game vs. #Jets with broken right pinky. Won't get stitches out until next Monday. — Ed Bouchette...

Steelers Make Changes to Both Lines

The acquisition of Levi Brown through a trade last week was a sign that there would be change at left tackle. We were sure that Mike Adams would be gone, but it wasn't clear whether Brown would be the starter or Kelvin Beachum, a guy who had been practicing as starter before Brown arrived at practice, would take the spot. According to an official source close to the Steelers...

Le'Veon Bell: Grading the Curve

Everyone is asking questions right now, if the team is just in transition or things are just plain unlucky. If the offense is getting better as far as points on the board, can the defense stop anyone? If our left tackle can't block anybody, can another overrated guy come in and improve the position? How much is coaching, how much is execution? The only answer, in our experience...

Steelers Defense in Unfamiliar Place

The Steelers defense is 10th overall so far in the 2013 season. Their numbers against the pass are excellent on paper, giving up just under 200 yards a game (5th in the league with no INTs). But their rushing defense, the pride of Steelers football going back as far as any of us can remember, is 26th right now. Seventh-worse in football. This article by Ray Fittipaldo of the...

Ryan Clark Says Steelers Will Make The Playoffs And Thinks Browns QB Brandon Weeden Stinks

Friday, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark was on ESPN First Take and tried to explain to Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless why the team is off to an 0-4 start. In addition, Clark also gave his reasons as to why he thinks the Steelers will still make the playoffs. "I think we will," said Clark. "We will make the playoffs and the reason I believe we'll make the...

Todd Haley Being Sued for Backing Out of Million Dollar Home Deal... and Trashing Said Home

In news which seems to validate every caricature every said about the man, Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley is being used by a home builder who is accusing Haley of backing out of a million dollar house deal and, oddly enough, for bizarrely wrecking the home in question. The news comes courtesy of steelersdepot.com, who reported the news from WPXI-TV. Haley...

Markus Wheaton to Miss Next Game

Bad news for Markus Wheaton, as the speedy Pittsburgh wide receiver will miss this week's upcoming game against the New York Jets due to a broken pinkie finger. Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette noted that Wheaton himself said that he's not playing this week and that he won't get stitches for his pinkie until next Monday. The Steelers will luckily...

Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets: 2013 Week 6 NFL Pick

Pittsburgh Steelers (0-4) at New York Jets (3-2) The bye week might have been exactly what the Steelers needed. They sit at 0-4, but they get as healthy as they can be during the bye, with veterans resting up and guys like Heath Miller and Le’Veon Bell getting extra time to get back to full strength. I still don’t think they’ll be as this bad all season. They’re getting destroyed...
