Andy: Just Do It! By Jack Willard 4-9-08

I can't take the debate in the newspapers and talk radio any more! No, the Eagles cannot compete with the rest of their division without another playmaker on offense, specifically a receiver. Sure, they'll tell us they made a bid for Randy Moss, arguably the best wide receiver in the game.

But don't you wonder if they went after him knowing they would not sign him? It's great to tell the public, who have been questioning their choices of receiver with the exception of the brief TO era, that if they don't get a receiver that they tried to land the best receiver in the league. It makes for good PR. But I wonder if that was their real objective about making an offer to Moss. Make him an offer because we know he will re-sign with the Pats. Again it shows they tried!

I'm sorry, though. Trying is not good enough. The division is good – but winnable! They made some nice additions on the defensive side of the ball. Now let's get a No. 1 receiver!

Looks towards Detroit ! They have two top-flight receivers – Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson. Yet their secondary couldn't cover me. Plus, offensively they publicly stated that they want to run the ball this season. Lito Shepard for Roy Williams seems like a good trade for both squads!

The window, as they say, is closing on contending for the Birds. And if they truly want to make a title run with Donovan McNabb calling the plays, then now's the time. So let's pull the trigger and get a receiver!

AMEN

Cant argue with that, it's time for some action and a parade down broad st.

ok...agreed

I'm with you on this one...although I still think if we draft the right reciever it will make reggie and kevin better...and that way we get to keep lito. A top 5 defense in the NFL and an offense that ranks 8-14 realisticly....it's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out.

poop

I agree, but at this point chances are we're not going to trade for a star receiver, or someones not going to trade a star reciever to us I should say. Every possible trade scenario has been stated, and Im sure the Eagles are letting teams with a "surplus" of NO. 1's know they are interested in something happening. At this point, if we do trade Lito, we can probably set our sites on draft picks or future draft picks with so many this year. I know it sucks, but if the Eagles were going to "make an offer someone cant refuse" for a NO. 1, Im sure they would have done it by now.

they've been saying the window's been "closing" for years.. I don't believe it.
An established receiver would be nice, but we can contend with something we get from the draft. We've been deep in the playoffs without a good receiver before anyway, and we've never had a weapon like Westbrook in the playoffs. And I mean that in how he developed.. right now he's much better than he was when we made the playoff run with Garcia.

100% agree

I also agree, but maybe the answer is in the draft.....Fitz would have been great....It didn't happen.....so i think our first priority in the draft is a WR hey we have 11 picks grab 4 or five have em compete see what happen.....S**t i dont know at this point.......I just dont want our eagles to drop money on a player who isn't going to produce....

Reggie has had numerous competition players and what has come of it? hmmm.... nothing? Seriously it feels like he's on the field 4 plays a game. Why is he still on the team? Where are Avant and Baskett? I really want to see production this year.... from all the WR's. Donovan is 100% and now is a better chance than ever.

The chances are still there that the Eagles could be trading for a stud WR. Teams always wait until the draft to make trades. So I disagree with the Opinion that the window has closed for any potential blockbuster trades. I mean the chances are as good as ever that the eagles will trade for a Roy Williams or a Chad Johnson trade. Especially in the draft when a team falls in love with a player and has to have him. They will go to great lengths in order to get him. Even trade away one of their top receivers. But there is no guarantees and the only sure solid way the birds walk away with a #1 WR after the 26th is if they draft one.

Ok I'll give u that....if it was Roy or Chad hell that would be great........I guess we will find out soon enough......

i say its time for mcnabb to go get kolb in the step up i promise things will go good once ocho sinco is wearin green

what window. i don't see a window closing. get over yourself.

The window for this offense closed when we went 8-8 and didn't make the playoffs.Time to try something else.Run the damn ball, already!Forget screwing around with drafting wideouts we all know Andy & co. will never be able to develop.
