Apparently being in the NFL for four seasons makes you an expert in the art of sacks.
Kansas City's sack monster Jared Allen has made plenty of sacks in his short career, and now he's listing off the five toughest quarterbacks to sack in the NFL. Here's his list from the KC Star:
Peyton Manning, Colts -- "He just gets rid of the ball so fast. Not only are you rushing against a tackle, you're rushing against him."
Jake Plummer, former Bronco -- "He's so mobile. And he's mobile in a weird way because he's so good on the perimeter and a good passer outside of the pocket."
Seneca Wallace and Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks -- "They have Walter Jones, so that's more of a tackle problem than a quarterback."
Carson Palmer, Bengals -- "Carson's tough. He gets rid of the ball fast as well."
David Garrard, Jaguars -- "He's so strong and low-bodied, and he scrambles."
And Allen's looking forward to sacking another quarterback in a future game.
"I am hoping to sack Brett Favre so bad, and then I'm going to ask for his autograph. Either way, I'm asking for his autograph," Allen told the Star.
I've got two problems here, Jared. You're still a young buck in the league. You've got 33.5 sacks in less than 3 and a half years in the league -- and that's pretty amazing -- but you've only sacked about 20 quarterbacks.
Leave the list to someone like Michael Strahan who's been around the block for over a decade. He's seen this generation of quarterbacks and the last generation. You're credible and you're great, but get more experience before you run your mouth.
And what's with this looking two games into the future. You play Green Bay three weeks from today. Get your focus on Oakland, that team you play today. That whole "taking it one game at a time" thing isn't just a bunch of bull. It's meant for concentration. Even the best smack talkers take it one game at a time.
So my advice for "Seis Nueve" or "JA" -- and this is relevant for both of my complaints -- wait until you're there. Until then shut up and play.
