Could Kevin Jones Return Home?

A Cardinal O'Hara great Kevin Jones could return back to Philadelphia. The Detriot Lions realeased him he has been in contact with the Eagles. The Eagles could get a good running back out of Kevin Jones in 2004 was a 1,000 yard rusher and still only 25. This move would benefit the Eagles because when Westbrook needs a break on 3rd down you can put in a Kevin Jones and still move the offense down the field.

he's expressed his interest in comin back to town, nothing but phone calls so far, we shall see what it is soon enough, thumbs up!

I like this idea because he can be a playmaker

Both Brian Westbrook and Kevins Jones would benefit from giving eachother plays off and keeping them both fresh, explosive and healthy.

They both could become more electric playmakers if both are fresh all the time. Then Buckhalter and Hunt can push eachother for the #3 RB.

I would support taking a no-risk flier on him but he probably won't be ready to play till mid-season so I don't see a big need for him. Buck played well last year and we used a 3rd round pick on Hunt last year and the Eagles usually only keep 3 tbs unless one is a return specialist like Reno was last year. Plus we still have Moats (not expecting him to make it). If Jones is healthy and activated midseason, who's the odd man out? Besides, coming back from a major injury in midseason, he will be slow, rusty and out of game shape.

would be great compliment to westbrook kind of a one two punch.

They can run the "rocketback" inside the 20 and put both on the field amking it hard to key in on either one

nice hopefully we do get him cause that def. gives westbrook some rest on certain plays..and plus he knows he's gonna be a second string so there wont be any problems with that..i like the idea now all we have to do is sign him

If the Lions don't want him, I'm not sure we should...then again Matt Millen is an idiot so who knows?

He had trouble running behind the lions horrible offensive line... thats why he struggled... if you put B~west in a lions uniform.. I can guarantee he would not be nearly as proficient as he is running behind our stout O-line...

I really dont like the idea myself , if your going to aquire another running back to compliment brian and not sign a good wide out make sure he is a reliable healthy runningback , yes the idea of having two running backs on the feild is an awsome idea just dont forget who the coach is Andy "i hate running the ball " reid. As for moats and hunt , you rarely see andy draft a player and have them make an immediate start or impact. why only god knows! what i do know is if the birds were to sign a rb they let alot of good ones go already! go birds

u do have a vaild point bleedgreen1978, andy doesn't like to run the ball. yeah we all got the injury in mind with this guy, but no worries, he's only expressed his interest at this point-PHILLY FO has NOT responded yet ;)!!!

I'll go on record again as saying this guy is hurt too often.

BUCKHALTER HAD SO MANY INJURIES IT DONT MAKE NO SENSE. HE CANT GIVE US THREE YARD ON THRD DOWN AND 2 BUT HE IS STILL PRODUCTIVE. HE HAD ONE OFF THE BEST LINES IN THE NFL FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS. AND ONE OFF THE BEST QBS FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS AND HE STILL GOT HURT TO BAD KEVIN JONES NEVER HAD THAT. HE WOULD BE ONE OFF THE BEST BACKS IN THE NFL. BUT BUCKHALTER STILL GOT A GOOD CONTRACT. THAT HE IS NOT WORTH.

Do you think the Lions feel Jones was worth anything? He missed a season and a half the last two years for two different injuries. No shit Buckhalter's constantly hurt. But you want to "upgrade" with Kevin Jones?Whatever.I suspect everyone's sucking his johnson right now because he went to a catholic school in Philadelphia.WHO F_ING CARES!? Again here's this "good guy" he's my pal" mentality. What the fuck do you think the Eagles are supposed to do with TWO runningbacks that may or may not play due to injury?ALSO when you sign a player you try to make it the best deal possible FOR THE TEAM.Yes it sucks when the guy is an injury plagued disappointment like Buckhalter(actually had an OK season in'07 by the way).No the Eagles were not great at predicting emerging talent from Buckhalter. But Jones is a guy that you don't have to look far into the future to see what you're gonna get.DISAPPOINTED!!

all jones needs is a change of scenery a new healthy start and a limited role, injuries are part of the game the guy is still a skilled player, if he gets hurt then we failed this plan its kind of a high risk high reward like moss to the pats last year, we still are going to get an upgrade at receiver but this move will take a little bit of pressure off that decision atleast for now

It only takes pressure off the fan assertion that we will be running the same damn offense again. If the FO is worried about appeasing McNabb adding Kevin Jones isn't gonna help that.I don't know where you think these receivers are hiding. In the draft?Do you have any idea how LUCKY a team has to be, even with a high pick, to draft a wideout that matters in his first year?
Anyway the REAL problem with Kevin Jones is that he is a long term project.Due to his injury, he just isn't a "plug-and-play" guy right now.

he's 25 years old. He came out of Va Tech after his sophomore year, meaning this will be his 5th season in the NFL. Makes sense that his body is breaking down a little at this point. If the birds sign him to a deal what is the harm? He could be a good 3rd down back or give Bwest a rest when he needs one. He catches the ball really well out of the back field and played on terrible Lions teams with below average blocking.

i agree...his career could be recreated in philly and he could get back to a winning football team

I mean I guess I can see arguments one way or the other, but really what are we risking by taking a flier on this guy? We don't lose draft picks and we are still well under the cap. Someone said Moss was a high risk high reward for the Pats, but really Moss was a LOW risk high reward. The Pats risked a one year deal and a 4th round draft pick to potentially add a guy who could break the NFL single-season TD record, and, uh, he did it. This would be a lower risk for the birds and all they risk is some guaranteed money. I say do it if you think his knees are ok.

the reason i said it was high risk high reward for the pats isnt because of what they gave up...its because if moss started bitchin and causing a disturbance on the team it would ruin the patriots "quality players only" philosophy, other than that yes it was a low risk...and it kind of would be a low risk but the reason it could be a high risk is if they depend on this guy to make the offense better which obviously they would...and then he gets hurt and they have to change gameplans and what not to accomodate for his injuries

If the price was right, Kevin Jones could be a steal (pending injuries of course).
It couldnt be near as bad as the deal for Kearse, what a waste. I am glad to see the Eagles
being aggressive in the free agent market this year, but for crap sakes! Land me a Bigtime reciever!!
We can afford a risk at RB, we are deep. Bucky's knees are made of Titatium after all the reconstruction he has had so, he'll be reliable for 3rd down even if Jones stayed an often-gimp.
GO GET HIM!! JUST DONT PAY TOO MUCH!!!

"I say do it if his knees are ok". That's the point dude. They aren't.He couldn't pass a physical right now and there are realistic doubts he could make camp.
MeannGreen, the Eagles signed Asante, Clemmons ( who wasn't in the NFL in 2006) ,made a half assed bid for Randy Moss. That's it.That's all we know they did.Jones and his agent claim the Eagles along with eleven other teams made some calls. Not that aggressive, actually.

If you think making plays at Fitzgerald & Moss (failed or not),
and snagging Asante Samuel isnt aggressive. We just won't agree then.
Kevin Jones is just that a gamble, No way can you guarantee he's ok or junk.
the Eagles can afford a gamble at that position
so long as the price is right. I love Westbrook, but god knows he's not the most durable either.
Given enough time, and I can't emphasize enough price.... Jones could save a season if Westbrook goes down. Bucky isnt an everydown, every game back, his knees blow out practically every year.
Moats is a joke, Mahe is pathetic ( even on special teams ). Would you rather see them actually get Alexander?? doubt it, way too old for the Eagles to consider. Give KJ a nasty O line like we have and a little luck with his injuries, and it could be the difference in rooting for Philly in the playoffs or just simply rooting for Dallas & NE to lose again.

well, twelve teams inquired about his services, BoogerKing. Most years the teams that are aggressive in free agency are the ones who are desperate, like the Redskins, Jets, Niners, Raiders. So I don't look at the Eagles not being able to land a long-shot trade and a long-shot signing as a deficiency. As for Jones, it's a good thing to be in the mix for someone like him - WHEN he is healthy, he has been very productive. They may have their docs look at him and say it's not worth the risk. That's the thing about knee injuries, they are tricky things to project. I mean I THINK that Javon Walker will be a bust in Oakland, the word on him is that the Broncos feared his knees were shot (as well as being a locker room cancer), but then again I wouldn't be shocked if he had a solid year. People said Jamal Lewis was done after he left Baltimore and he shocked the world last season. Alge Crumpler was let go in Atlanta supposedly bc of his knees. It's a gamble sometimes, just like bringing back Bruschi and Vrabel was a gamble for New England that paid off well. No balls, no babies

We are definatly the favorites to land Jones, because he was an Eagles fan. It would be cool to have another back to return home. Plus think of this: B-West
Jones
Buck
Hunt
FB: Klecko

Apparently the FO never really thought Moss could be wrangled from the Patriots. The rigamarole over Fitzgerald left me with the impression that most of the potential deals we're contrived by bloggers. It is unclear to me what,if any, solid offer the Eagles actually made for Fitz.Personally I don't feel there was an "aggressive" attempt at either one.Anyway, you have made a good case for the rewards of taking on injury risks. Here's the thing.Signing Buckhalter for two more years was a risk.So far so good there. If you sign Jones,Hunt's gone.Their not going to carry four RB and a FB.I could care less about Tony Hunt but to replace him with Jones is to back Bwest up with TWO injury risks.I just think the timing is off.We can afford to wait another year, decide what to do with Buckhalter and see if Hunt can play some ball.
