Wow, I am do you know how the CBA being opted out of is going to hit us? I hope it is nothing like the Deion deal. We took a beating on that contract.

I am wondering,

No, don't know that much about what it's going to do, but I know the Cowboys are feverishly trying to get contract negotiations done with Hamlin and Barber right now. I have a feeling a lot of the owners are going to be feeling the pinch of the salary cap trying to sign players to deals before this CBA crap hits.

If memory serves, and don't trust mine, don't we have to make good on all guaranteed money before it ends? If that is correct we are gonna have a very hard time getting these guys long term. Maybe they'll work with the organization and sign some short term deals that are cap friendly. Newman maybe, but the other two I just don't know. Newman seems to really value the team. Maybe we'll get a baseball like hometown discount from him.

I think that is correct. It's going to be a balancing act right now. The Cowboys are in a position to make a run at the SB the next couple of years and there are going to be some playes wanting to get paid if that happens.

I assume that you've heard that he and Barber both signed, right? What do you think of the deals? I think Newman's was a good sign. Barber's I am not as sure about. He is going to have to stay healthy all seven years to earn 45 million dollars worth in a two back system.

I dont think Newman is worth that amout of money. Not even close to ot.

Oh well. Thanks for your thoughts, but he's got the money now. He played with an injured foot last season and was still one of the best corners in the league. Obviously, someone thinks he's worth it. Have a good one.

I'm very excited about both signings...i read something about them working with hamlin but they're not willing to go more than 5 yrs with him...I tell u what there r a lot of players coming up that need new contracts...canty, colombo, tank, T.O., dware and of course hamlin...who do u guys think will be left out??

Colombo and maybe Tank. It sure won't be Ware leaving here.
