Would you give up the Giants' #1 pick in this April's draft for DeAngelo Hall? According to the Star Ledger's Mike Garafolo, GM Jerry Reese would. Hall, you might recall, is the Atlanta cornerback who had a well-publicized run-in with then-coach Bobby Petrino before Petrino bailed on the Falcons. Hall was fined and benched for his actions. The 24-year-old Hall is regarded as one of the league's best corners. Having him on the team, along with Aaron Ross and Corey Webster...

So wouldnt that mean Gibril Wilson wouldnt be resigned being as though he's an UFA?

Hall is a corner. Wilson is a safety. One has nothing to do with the other.
    • Did you see the playoffs they were switching up that secondary like a rubic's cube.

The additional first might give Atlanta extra leverage in moving up...

I would give up the final pick in the first round for D-Hall, definitely. Hall is a legitimate -- wait for it now, here it comes, overused-phrase alert... shutdown corner.

Whether is that or not is debatable. I think he has the ability to be a shutdown corner, but there are many who think he is overrated and gives up too many big plays. I'm willing to throw his bad performances last season out the window because of everything else that went on. I'm more worried about him going to the Giants and becoming a disruptive guy in the locker room.

if this is true then i wanna know why the eagles arent giving up the 19th pick overall for D hall he is very good
  • jakeblair
well think of it this way- if Hall were this talented entering the draft, he would go waaay before the giants got him...
and the eagles can't sign EVERYBODY, eagles fans.

don't get me wrong, deangelo hall is a great corner. but when he goes up against a tough reciever he's no better than what the giants got at corner. he's got a bad temper and i think him and spagnolo/coughlin wont go well. but it is the 32nd pick.
but to phillyfannaz, we don't need deangelo. i'd rather give up the 19th pcik for fitz or chad, we need more help on O (especially at receiver) than D. i still can't believe we got through last season with the recievers we had, we need help there and also it would help if we got a solid DE to go along with cole.

I'm one of the people who think that he is overrated as gives up to many bad plays by gambling on the ball. Plus the guy is a cancer in the locker room and I know Tom Coughlin will not go for that. I don't see what he has done that Aaron Ross hasn't. At least Ross has a ring. What has Deangelo ever done?
    • Taylorized
Hall can't win a ring by himself so saying Ross has one and Deangelo doesn't means nothing.

Yikes pardon the poor grammar lol. I type too fast sometimes without proofreading.

But a point is that Ross doesn't think that he is above the team and that contributes to a winning atmosphere in any business. Also considring Hall's ego and the contract Nate Clements got last year,it will be tough to sign him as well.

Randy Moss was considered an attitude guy and team cancer but he got right in line when he joined the Patriots. Same thing happened with Corey Dillon. Some guys just hate to lose. If the team culture around him is strong enough (and the Giants now seem to buy into waht Coughlin has to say) he might be a good risk.
        • Yeah FBkid you talk alot of him being a cancer but alot of it is undetermined and the coach is a punk.
  • Taylorized
He does have an ego, but I'm not going to say he's a cancer like everyone's been saying. Most of the Falcons hated Petrino last year, he was just a little more outspoken and after seeing what the weasle Petrino did to them, I can't totally fault him. He had that minor meltdown against Carolina early in the season but (and I could be forgetting something) he didn't let that happen again. And prior to Petrino arriving he never had any problems with Jim Mora Jr. Does he have the perfect attitude? No, does that mean he's an all out cancer? I don't think so. I think we could go through every single team in the NFL and find someone who is cocky and arrogant, that doesn't make them a cancer.

are you kidding me? hall is the only hope the falcons have left in their so called "franchise". they have nothing left.. crumpler is gone, vick is gone, kerney is gone.. wtf are they doing down there. hard times for the falcons but im afraid they aren't letting him go sorry.

They are rebuilding, it's been rumored for days even before this particular story that they may be shopping him around the league and today he was quoted as saying there was a slim to no chance that he plays for ATL next year. Even if they keep him they are still a few years away from contending. Even if he doesn't end up with the Giants I give it a 99% chance that he somewhere else next season. Maybe you should do a little research before making misinformed comments.

Hmm. I don't really think this move is worth it. Hall has always been a little overrated, and he definitely seems like he would clash with Coughlin.

Would you give up the Giants' #1 pick in this April's draft for DeAngelo Hall? Not only NO, but HELL NO!!!
    • Taylorized
Well I'm reading other rumors that the Cowboy's are interested as well, offering their first round. And everyone knows Jerry Jones doesn't have a problem throwing money at anyone if he wants them bad enough.

Still don't think he's worth a number one pick. Why not just use that number one to get the best young CB in the draft? Doesn't make sense to me.
  • Guys
He will be just fine. What he has been through with the Falcons has made him a very mature and responsible young man. He is a very physical and reliable corner. another good move by Jerry Reese. Compare what the Giants would get at 30, then put Halls name in that slot. Works for me!! When and if he arrives in Giant land, he will see the diff in organizations and reap the benefits. He will become a leader in time.
  • let me think about this hall has the speed to keep up with n e one in the NFL so please don't give me that bs about aron ross being better then hall I would give up the 31st pick in a heart beat. Also u wouldn't see our corners being burned by donald driver or randy moss. Hall is a dare I sa shut down corner! He would allow the giants to play more man coverage and help them get more pressure on the QB
