Al Davis made a head scratcher of a move by giving up the Oakland Raiders' seventh round pick to trade up in the fourth round to select cornerback Tyvon Branch out of Connecticut. Cornerback is far from a position of need in Oakland as they already have Nnamdi Asomuga and DeAngelo Hall as starters and Stanford Routt in the nickel. The Raiders could have used that pick to address positions of need along the lines, but instead once again Al went for a big and fast corner.

  • Branch is a big, very fast and hard hitting defensive back who will be moved to safety. He will not play corner. He will also be a big help on special teams on returns (2 TDs last year) and in coverage. A gunner like Cooper. He is also one of the sharpest players in the draft that will absorb everything and get better daily. Some say he'll be a coach in this league someday. Fabian Washington was a one dimensional CB who didn't even start, beat his girlfriend and is too small to cover anyone. This is a tremendous upgrade.
