Eye Catcher: Not Hard To Pick Amendola Out Of Rookie Crowd

Rookie mini-camps are filled with players who have long odds on making an NFL roster. But former Texas Tech wide receiver Danny Amendola has been battling those odds as long as he has been playing football - and winning.

So maybe it shouldn't be a surprise he was one of the players catching the eye of Cowboys coaches and even owner Jerry Jones this past weekend here at the Cowboys mini-camp.

"I just can't wait to see him go against the veteran guys and just watch him work," Cowboys wide receivers coach Ray Sherman said after just the first day of practice.

Amendola had 224 career catches for 2,246 yards and 15 touchdowns at Texas Tech....

Lol why would people give this a thumbs down? Anyways looks like a good story and you never know, kinda reminds me of Wayne Chrebet. I'm hoping DJ Hall makes the Giants, he was a UDFA wr as well.

Always a Cowboys hater in the crowd. I think I know who it was. More power to them. Anyway, I know what you mean. Been watching this kid in the Big 12 for 4 years and he just has that uncanny ability to beat defenders and get open just like the guy he replaced at Tech, Wes Welker. I think he's going to make a roster somewhere and I hope it's here. DJ Hall is a good prospect also. Never know about these guys, but they both could be diamonds in the rough.
