Who Will Be The 1st WR Taken?

Ok folks lets start the debate who will be the first receiver taken in this years draft? Will it be the physical Limas Sweed of Texas? Or the speedster from Cal? Maybe it wont be either, but its a good question as the draft is only 20 days away. Who be will the first team to pull the trigger and draft a receiver?

aw shucks u know what i'm gonna say LOL!!!!!!!

The first team that could possibly take WR is Baltimore, thats only if Matt Ryan is off the board. even then they likely look into offensive takle with jon ogden likely retiring. I don't know if a WR are worth that high a pick. THE FIRST WR taken will be Devin Thomas, by Buffalo.

Great weapon to compliment Lee Evans, and a great target for Trent Edwards for years

SWEED!

LOL u read my mind Tony!!!

Kelly

Kelly...

I'll go out on a limb and say Kelly. Don't tell that jared guy though. Could be Hardy, but I don't think it will be Sweed. Besides, Sweed's a Longhorn, he ain't any good......LOL.

GIVE 'EM HELL GIVE 'EM HELL OU SUCKS!!!! HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!!

We beat them last year and we'll beat them again this year.

I just hope Sweed AND Kelly are gone by 19 so we don't get stuck with either of them

Yeah, right!!

I know you're in love with both for them Five...but you know what they say about Texas/Oklahoma and surrounding areas....steers and queers! Haha ok maybe that doesn't apply here, but neither of those guys is worth a 1st round pick, or 1st round $ for that matter. They should be happy to be swimmin in that shallow pool of WRs this year.

I like Kelly more, but it's true, good wide receivers are hard to find in the first round or the team has to develop them for a year or two before they earn their money. No queers in Pittsburgh , huh? Quite unusual if I may say so. I think I saw some cows up there, too.

devin thomas is the most talented wr in this years draft, he SHOULD go first. will he? of course not

I think we got the message.

haha don't blame trot for yardbarkers poor technical abilities

I dunno, there is no STAND OUT receiver
Nobody can just come into the NFL and be an impact that exceeds expectations. I like Desean Jackson's speed, but I can't imagine him taking a hit. Limas Sweed is is talented, but who likes damaged goods? Malcom Kelly plays well but statistically he is #3 of the top three. There are no safe choices here. It depends what single attribute you will base your WR's play on.

How can you say none of these guys will have an immediate impact? Did anybody see Marques Colston coming? Nope, nobody did. Fact is you don't know who will do what. Some no-name dude could suprise the hell out of you....just gotta find him.

Tall, Fast, Hand, End Zone Threat.....J. Hard

you forgot to mention off the field liability

Give one of the top receivers or other player that don't or didn't have some type of off field issue? All these players issue have been blown up unfairly. How many years ago did some of these things happen? And you've never done anything!! lol J Hard is my pick, Kelly then Thomas

Actually character has always come into play, it just wasn't talked about by the media as much.
Anquan Boldin
Larry Fitz
Roy Williams
Marvin Harrison
Reggie Wayne
T.J. Houshmandzadeh
Marques Colston
Torry Holt
Steve Smith
Braylon Edwards
Hines Ward

You can argue some of these are closer to a #2 than a #1, but they have all had GREAT success and put up big numbers. As far as I know, none of these players have had off the field issues (perhaps a couple have that I don't know about).
Cris Carter
Jerry Rice

how about this baby...may man JORDY NELSON...lol

Marques Coleston had the best QB of the season on his side, as well as the Heisman trophy winning quarterback. His numbers were not as good last year, even when Bush's became better.
All in all I don't see a #1 receiver that gives me the same feeling that Calvin Johnson even gave me. Thats intuition, not fact. But I think it is logistic to question the quality when the fastest is the shortest of the pool. The best all around was injured, and the third is still #3. But there is nobody we can safely say is "The best in the pool" because even the top fish aren't as attractive as previous drafts.

Unfortunately , there are no Calvin Johnson type receivers in this bunch. It's a deeper class, but not as many superstars.

So you're saying Drew Brees and Reggie Bush are better than 5 and BWest? think before you post bro. Of course theres nobody like Calvin Johnson...nobodys being regarded as a top 10. But theres definitely guys that can help a team right away. I'm not saying its any of the guys in the top 5....I do believe I said you have to find him.

Drew Brees had the 11th best QB rating. He's good, but definitely not the best.

sorry Heisman trophy winning RB.

DEVIN THOMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally I like Kelly, but as we have clearly seen here all of them have something pulling them down on the draft boards. I

I think it is a good thing that there are no Calvin Johnson types. We just might look back at this draft someday and say, "Wow, they all came in, shut up, worked hard, and two years later there are four impact receivers from the draft of 2008.". Yeah right.

Malcolm Kelly

My how quick opinions change.A week ago everyone wanted the Birds to pick Jackson. Now he gets no love here.Devin Thomas had one meaningful season of college ball.BIG TIME credit to Trot for sticking with him if he turns out great but I don't think there's enough evidence to support the claim.I'm guessing Hardy will go first. Then Sweed.

Sorry, it can't possibly be Jackson. I have no fantasies that this guy is the second coming of Steve Smith - he just didn't show it in his senior year. I'd say the safest prospect is Sweed in this draft, and Malcolm Kelly has the highest upside. Jackson could be good, but I wouldn't select him first based on his measurables and his stats.

Nor do I want to see the Birds pick him.I just think it's funny how the speculation on these guys changes from day to day, week to week.Limas Sweed has proven talent on a fair-sized frame. For some reason I'm just seeing Hardy as the first guy to go.

Kelly

Kelly

SWEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KELLY

ya i think i agree, kelly will most likely go first

btw, thanks to my boys dtrik and booger for the nice words
