The year of grossly over-paying free agents has continued. The New York Jets today signed offensive guard Alan Faneca away from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Faneca will receive $40 million over 5 years, with $21 million of it guaranteed. The Jets were originally seeking only four years, but added a fifth to make sure there no snags in getting this done. In the deal, the Jets receive Jenkins while the Panthers get 3rd and 5th round picks in this years NFL Draft. I would think the Jets would look to rework Jenkins contract. Now to this deal, I think its stupid I really do!!! ....

The New York Jets have completed a trade that will send linebacker Jonathan Vilma to the New Orleans Saints. In return the Jets will receive a 4th round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft that could be upgrade to a 3rd round pick based on how Vilma performs in 2008.
