The past couple of years there was no doubt amongst fans and players who the league's best running back was...LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers. But this year that title is up for grabs and one second year player is looking to run away with the top honors. www.rawsportsblog.com

LT, better back. AP, safer fantasy pick.

westbrook--best all around and safest fantasy pick
    • FANSided
with APs injury concerns not sure if he is safer...

Neither... Westbrook. i cant stand LT. He sucks in the playoffs, hes inconsistant, and he did so well because he had an amazing fullback in Lorenzo Neal blocking for him. just like Shaun Alexander when he lost Mack Strong. These 2 running backs were made by great fullbacks. Adrian Peterson did do amazing but he was also behind an amazing offensive line. I want to see how Adrian Peterson does this upcoming season and then i'll feel as if he isn't a "fraud" if he plays as well. Westbrook is proven week in and week out he brings it. Playoffs, superbowl, preseason whatever it maybe Westbrook brings it. I have seen Westbrook behind an elite offensive line and a not so great offensive line and no matter what he's great. Now i know alot of you barkers are probably thinking im a delusional EAGLES fan but i truly feel Westbrook is the best!!!!!

alexander got hurt and old...LT is still gonna be good without neal
    • when they lost lorenzo neal it wasnt a big deal cuz LT doesnt need it. Pinnock stepped right in and LT did the same thing
    • superqb05
you better believe it brother. go bwest go eagles.

LT is undoubtedly the best and the safest pick. AP is a injury waiting to happen, thats why i pickup Chester Taylor on my fantasy teams.
  • DM5LOVER
    Placard_complete_small
SAME HERE RHCP.. MY FANTASY TEAM LAST YEAR WAS WESTBROOK, TOM BRADY, RANDY MOSS AND ADRIAN PETERSON... I ALSO HAD TO PICK UP TAYLOR.

well i passed on moss picked drew brees and traded peterson for gore....thought i was a genious before week 1

i would have done the same thing. ouch!
  • GetMoney05
It depends. If your looking for a superbowl ring right now i would choose LT. If you are building a team for the future, 2-3 years down the road i would choose LT. Fantasy wise. You didnt list him, but i would agree with DM5, Westbrook.

LT does rack up most of his yards against weaker teams, and gets on average, somewhere around 25 carries a game. more when he is having a good day, which usually come against weaker teams as i already said. I still think LT is the best back today.

I will take LT for now as he has the proven track record. If Peterson puts up similar numbers to what he did his rookie season then it would be a lot closer to me. The thing I think about Peterson last year though is when the team needed him the most he didn't do anything. In his last 4 games Peterson only had around 150 yards. That's not what the Vikings need when they are in the middle of chasing a playoff birth.

Right now its LT, fantasy wise, I had LT last year and he did pretty good. But the best two backs were AP and BWest.

DM5LOVER, Shaun Alexander had the best O-line for about 3 years, Mack was just a nice addition. LT will be just as good this year.

    WESTBROOK
  • AP has too many injuries dating back to college. I don't remember the last time he's played a full season...SR year of HS maybe?
  • doc62484
    brian westbrook
  • Tenebrous
Umm, why are we talking about yesterday's news? The question really is, how much better is D. McFadden then A. Peterson?
    • BirdsFan536
      Placard_complete_small
right now.....hes not close...he hasnt taken an NFL snap yet....he hasnt had 2 200 yard games in one year...he hasnt won rookie of the year....so right now hes not close
      • Tenebrous
We'll see when the season starts, but it seems silly to talk abut yesterdays news - McFadden v. Peterson is far more interesting...
        • BirdsFan536
          Placard_complete_small
i disagree....mcfadden hasnt played yet...you cant say mcfadden is better than peterson until u see it....there is nothing at all to prove mcfadden is better
        • webkid30
I'm agreeing with a Birds fan? Yes. No point in comparing AP to McFadden when it's all speculation and no substance. If McFadden goes in the first round in your fantasy draft he went too soon. I'd say a late second rounder at the earliest.
      • supercharger21
DMC=bust. he isnt going to be able to take a hit in the NFL
        • rhcp879
          Placard_complete_small
agreed. hes the next reggie bush.
        • supercharger21
i dont think reggie is a bust he just was overhyped
        • rhcp879
          Placard_complete_small
he wouldn't be a bust if he was a 3rd round pick. but for the 2nd overall pick... BUST
  • connor
    LT because he is consistent.
  • BirdsFan536
    Placard_complete_small
LT is a better running back than westbrook but id take westbrook because he is better all around...i think if u combine his recieving and running ability he is the best in the NFL

    Placard_complete_small
    the wizard of westbrook!
  • hutcht02
Don't underestimate Marshawn Lynch. It's a bad time to bring him up because of his legal troubles, but until he got hurt last year, there were a lot of things he did as well or better than Adrian Peterson did. Look at yards per carry and carries per game and tell me which one is more effective. The answer is Lynch.
    • rhcp879
      Placard_complete_small
lynch can't make people miss. i agree that Lynch can be a great player in this league, but he isn't comparable to B-West or LT.
  • it starts with l.t., and then westbrook is right there because of his versatility and then peterson
  • JohnFennelly
Tomlinson lost all credibility when he sat and sulked on the bench during the AFC Cahmpionship Game. Even if the Chargers would have won that game to get to the SB, he would have sulked because he's become a selfish PRIMA DONNA. You heard me.

Peterson has one year under his belt - hard to judge with such little data. Give me Brandon Jacobs
    • ceenote510
Exactly the lack of leadership and participation on LT's part after he got hurt took his stock way down......I will take Westbrook for now AP is injury prone and we haven't seen McFadden yet
    • rhcp879
      Placard_complete_small
Jacobs? your joking right? hes a good back, but his style of play will have him out for the season by week 4.
      • webkid30
Hell no! (I hope). Jacobs missed a few games last year, but it actually wasn't because of his running style. They were kind of freakish injuries AND we found some gems in his absence. With Bradshaw and Ward mixing in carries he should be very effective.
        • rhcp879
          Placard_complete_small
he doesn't run low at all, he stands straight up. thats how he hit his knee. i hpe it doesn't lead to more injuries, but...
  • NESTO11
    Westbrook
  • sxpxuxnxk
it should be LT vs westbrook, not peterson. peterson is going to become one of the best but right now the two premier backs are the forementioned and it's a very easy nod to westbrook because he is a threat all over the field.
  • Pinkpanthrrr
    Placard_complete_small
LT has the super stats, but hasn't been able to pull of a lot of tough wins. Does he lack toughness? AP we will see this year.
  • LestersLegends
    Placard_complete_small
LT is the most complete back in the league. Adrian Peterson is the most electric. Brian Westbrook is the most versatile.
  • Justwannawinna
    Placard_complete_small
LT is the best back followed by Westbrook AP is third because he had a great freshmen year if he can keep it going he could be number 1 as soon as the end of this next season
  • jwil08
first of all who cares about what the guys are doing for your fantasy team, these running backs are making us appreciate o-lineman and fullbacks. but anyway B West is a very very good running back but he hasn't had to deal with the same workload as LT has, the 1 edge i will give westbrook is that the NFC east has some very good defenses.
    • rhcp879
      Placard_complete_small
with the amount of rushes / receptions, B-West's workload is about the same as LT's
  • deserteaglefan
    Placard_complete_small
WestBrook is just very little public respect. Drives me nuts
  • supercharger21
AP is not taht good. I liked when he had 14 carries for 3 yards against san fransicso the 27th best run defense
    • supercharger21
      scratch that 22nd
      • rhcp879
        Placard_complete_small
cuz Patrick WIllis was on him. He is going to make people say, "Ray Lewis who?"
        • supercharger21
so y where they bad the rest of the year
        • rhcp879
          Placard_complete_small
who knows, maybe Patrick wanted to prove he was the best rookie, and shut Peterson down. just joking though, idk. but if you watch the game you can tell Willis is the reason Peterson gained 3 measly yards
  • Laetty215
This season will answer the question....
  • supercharger21
    LT LT LT
  • Brian Westbrook
  • theoneandonly
    Placard_complete_small
Wait how does McFadden blow? How is he like Reggie Bush? They are not even the same style running back. You guys are just HATERS.
    • supercharger21
Mcfadden wont be able to take a hit, he fumbled too much in college and his legs are toooo skinny to take a hit
  • YoungCity20
    Placard_complete_small
i think it goes LT , Westbrook ,AP
  • thelandryhat
Marion Barber will prove to be better than both of them.
  • YoungCity20
