This story got swept under the rug for a few weeks due to the Saints quick start, but it hasn't been forgotten by the NFL and Tom Benson, both of whom still question "whether the team can remain viable for the long-term future." The fact that LA is becoming less of an option might buy New Orleans some time.

The Saints can't peel out of New Orleans. After the events of Hurricane Katrina, there are so many people who really get their joy out of Saints' football. Football should stay in New Orleans, for the people- forget about L.A.- they already have the Lakers, and two baseball teams.
  • Thankfully the Saints are good this year. If they can continue to be competitive, one can assume that they will continue to sell tickets. If they're not, it could get messy in New Orleans. Unless the NFL subsidizes the team somehow, it's going to be difficult to keep a team in a stadium that only sells out half of their luxury boxes.
