Spending Less Can Lead To More For Dallas Cowboys

This is one time where less is definitely more.

The salary cap-strapped Dallas Cowboys don't need to spend money on players in free agency just so they can say they added a player or two.

Jerry and Stephen Jones are playing this one just right. They're doing nothing.

The Cowboys have a nice roster, which is how they sent a record number of players to the Pro Bowl last season, and they have two first-round draft picks in April. There's no need at all for the Cowboys to force the issue.

They didn't need to spend big money on average players like Bernard Berrian. Or even top-notch players like Asante Samuel. Let alone marginal players like D.J. Hackett.

Dallas had its version of free agency when it signed Flozell Adams and Ken Hamlin to contracts early in the free-agency process. If that's all they get done, then so be it.

If teams aren't careful, free agency creates more problems than it solves because there are so many busts. The Cowboys have learned this over the years.

So, they're being cautious. It will pay off down the road.

so what your saying is, by staying bad and not signing help, the cowboys are actually smart? Some may disagree, yet i guess the cowboys can't do anything because they are paying all those mediocre players so much money that they have none left in cap space.

13 mediocre Pro Bowlers?

You do realize that when a team has a great season, they tend to have a bunch of pro bowlers whether they are deserving or not.

That's true, but I didn't see too many that weren't deserving.

u wanna talk mediocre then lets talk mediocre...lets start with your recievers...hmmm I just wont go there...next your o-line...their old and the ones who r young give up 6 sacks to Osi in one game!! next tight end...u placed the franchise tag on L.J but y???? he's easily behind witten, shockey and cooley in the division...next special teams...when are your punt retuners gonna learn to stop diving for punts(green bay game)...lets go to your beloved qb...lets face it after an acl injury your basiclly done...its unfortunate but thats the way it is...08 is probably his last yr w/philly...thank god u guys got a top 10 defense cause u definetly have playmakers on that side but so do we....u guys got trent cole and we got dware, u got bdawk and we got hamlin who is a younger version of bdawk, u got asante and we got terence newman and both teams linebackers r young and aggressive...dude i dont wanna come on here bashing a team or its players but when someone says our players r mediocre just cause u hate dallas then I say thats bull...13 probowlers isnt mediocre...our results in the playoffs definetly are, actually worst than mediocre but not the actual team...also mediocre cant come into the LINC and put up 38 against that D and win by 21...Give Romo another yr before u consider him overrated...u gotta remeber that last season was his first full yr

yeah like overrated tony romo

Hmmm.....overrated? 8-8 is overrated.

8-8 is underachieving and unacceptable, you'll find out soon enough

dtrik we replied at the same time LOL! it's gonna be a FUN SEASON fo sure!!!!!!!!

WTH it's not letting me thumbs up now..........c'mon YARD what gives!!!!!!!

i read about this the other day on the headlines, not this article fiver, but one similar and it made sense to me. so lets see what happens with the draft, ya think anything?

as for bashing, hell i don't do that stupid shit, u know i dig you as a person so the ppl. that bash can bite me. rivalry is one thing, bashing is another!!!

As an Eagles fan talking objectively, Dallas doesn't need to make any monster moves in free agency. They proved to be a good team last year. Their record shows that. They can most likely fill in the gaps in the draft.Having said that.I would love nothing more than the Birds and the Boys head to head for the NFC championship.(At the Linc of course!)LOL

Thanks......at least there are some sensible people that can reply to an article without instantly bashing someone. Would be a hell of a championship game, for sure. Fill those gaps and let's party.

KEGGER my house LMAO! of course we are sensible, WELL SOME of us - it's the fun of it!!

Sounds like a plan to me. I ain't wearing green though. :-)

finally someone responds w/o bashing dallas...nfc championship sounds good to me...but I prefer Texas Stadium LOL...plus it would be the last game played there

nope no green, wear your fave dallas jersey, i've got peeps up here that are dallas fans, we'll play quarters for each others jersey's LMAO!

In that case, I'll bring a T.O. jersey......................LMAO.

aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh NO THANKS, i'd rather wear a ROMO jersey !!!!!! if i lose at quaters that is LOL!

We'll get 5R really drunk, paint his face green and video him singing the Eagles fight song, put it on youtube, then here. That's if we win. If we lose... we drop your ass off at the Linc and feed ya to the dawgs.LOL!!!

IF you lose, you get painted Cowboy colors and dropped off in the Bronx.

TOUCHE!!!!!!!! milk again dammit!

LMAO. Thank God it's not a Redsox jersey.LOL

If it was a RedSox jersey, we'd just go ahead and kill you first and save you the trouble.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
u r bad Mom2a2 but i like that lol!!!!!!!!
