Sean Taylor was chosen #1 not because of the tragedy , but because he is a defensive player that turned turnovers into Touchdowns.

Not to offend anyone, but I think Sean Taylor was a quite dirty player and as tragic as his death is, he wasn't that good to me. I watched Reggie Brown, thats right Reggie "this is his year" Brown run him ragged last year. Maybe his life was turning around and he was becoming a better person, but that guy was good for at least 1 personal foul per game usually.

he was a goon but his play was great

Rodney Harrison is a dirty Player

breaking news there...all of us had no clue...thanks for the insight

Cole #10? I don't know, he should be higher. Probably top 5-6 based on pure explosiveness and sack total, FF, everything.

If this is based on 07, Dawkins should be 11 at best unfortunately. If its based on total career or past 5 seasons, he should be top 3. What was the timeline for the ratings?

sorry, i didnt read your whole post, i see. This makes a bit more sense now. My fault on that.

Sorry but Sean is not #1. Getting voted in to the Pro-bowl this year was like getting a post humous medal of honor. I'm not trying to make light of his death, but there are too many other players in the NFL/NFC East that posted better career/2007 numbers. He was a dirty player on field and a pick here or there does not translate into a great player.

5 int,s and 42 bone jarring tackles in 9 games , thats not a pick here or there

that does not make you number one. Osi's 7 sack game puts him first above Sean. And yeah you bring another good point, how many games did he play this year?

true about hte games osi played in but taylor is no.1 in my book, playmaker on defense so serious

That is why Osi is not even number two he had seven sacks against a back up tackle and a QB with a hurt knee. what did he do the rest of the year

Strahan should probably drop to 6-7 I think. Wilson should def not be above Newmann. And Ellis is good yes, but not 5. He is in the twilight of his career at this point and his 2007 was a little above average at best.

Ellis was the comeback player of the year and had 12.5 sacks this year. I know he's a Cowboy, Get, but come on!!! That's more than a little above average.

Yeah Yeah lets go Osi and Strahan and lets go Giants

Looks to me that the PATS could easily beat this so called STUD team

They better just beat the NY Giants before taking on the stud team.

Anyone remember Stallworth's double move on Taylor last year? That left him looking for his ankles?

Taylor has become the most overrated player in football because he died. Its so stupid, so old.

the pats would kill your little stud team man

is it jsut me, or did he ever say "this stud team would beat the pats"
no... i don't think he did. pats fans are like 50 year old guys that just bought a corvette.

Hell, I'll take a corvette. Where do I sign up?

Where's Lito Shepperd? The guy missed half of the year and is still one of the best corners in the league.

lito sheppard has to be in there instead of sheldon brown.. brian dawkins has never been that great of a playmaker.. just has a great impact on the game
greg ellis hasnt made a play in about 2 years

I must admit I overlooked Lito Shepard

Dawkins has never been a playmaker? Do you know anything about football , dude? He's been in our division for several years and I can attest to the fact that this guy has been one of the best. OUCH!!! Am I really saying this???

lets hope the Philadelphia Eagles draft Tom Zbikowski, SS, Notre Dame cause sean considine sucks i think hes good to be a back up thas it......people please go 2 the Philadelphia Eagles web site and post Tom Zbikowski name on the eagles forum cause this guy is awesome go 2 youtube and watch his highlights

Did I see some news about Dawkins being released? If so, that's kind of a surprise.

I'll back you up on the Zbikowski campaign, he's just what Philly needs at safety and great value in the 3rd round, maybe a reach in the 2nd, but one that should be well worth it.

roy williams sucks, that's why he's not on the list.

Hell, I'll agree with that. Not sure what has happened to him the last couple of years. I think Parcells ruined his confidence or something. They guy used to be a monster and playmaker and now he hardly does anything.

Hey Lifeti me21 You post so much about Tom Zbikowski ..I think you secretly ARE TOM ZBIKOWSKI! lol MAAAAAAAYYYBEEE. Haha. :)

def trent cole, he is young and is going to be a great de for the eagles..

Cole is an animal in the same mold as Ware. Maybe not quiet as dominant, but still one of the best and going to get better.

I am fairly young ... but how long has the nfc been trailing the the afc talent wise

RIP SEAN TAYLOR

the Dawkins rumors are unfoiunded and from SD talk radio.

Nuff said.

LEE-TO...LITO, LITO, LITO, LEE-TO... LEE-TO...

Thank you where is Lito- you noted Shledon Brown, i expect to see Lito in the top 10.

Dead or alive, Sean Taylor does not deserve to be #1. I would have him no higher than 6th on this list.

Other than that weak decision, and the omission of former Gator Lito Shepard, I like your list.

How about that dude from Pittsburgh that guaranteed a win against the Pats and then got burned for 3 TD's?

Sean Taylor was easiest the best athlete on that list. T.O. was a no show in every game where he met "21". He could score on the defensive side of the ball at anytime(did anyone see the fg at the end of the cowboy game in '06), He is the biggest hitter on the list including the backers and was the most important guy on his unit. And I am sick of people calling him a dirty player. I wonder how many of you who say that have actually played the game. football is a sport for goons, its not basketball or anything ladies!
R.I.P. #21

I might have to ditto that. I think Taylor was a beast. He was a beast in college and the NFL.

He spit in another players face. Thats not dirty?

Why hell. T.O. did that, too. He was still a good football player. We are not talking about dirty players here. Shoot, you could go down that best list and find a few.

I know it has nothing to do with him being a good football player. I will admit he was good but he has become a little overrated.

Yeah.....maybe so.

he was easily becoming the best safety since ronnie lott. who has the physical tools in the nfl let alone at his position. Havent seen anything like him before, not Bob sanders, not ed reed, and especially not Roy Williams. (dont get me wrong bob is a beast as well as Reed.) You cant tell me his hit in the pro bowl against the punter wasnt classic!!

you forgot lito sheppard one of the best cb in the leauge shut down
