Why I No Longer Like Randy Moss, And Why T.O. Is Better

I'm not one of those old school NFL fans who frown upon the new-school athletes and their "questionable" antics. I thought his "straight cash homey" declaration was genius, So if his egocentric anti-conformist attitude didn't turn me off, what did?

i think it is a good comparison because it is true. owens does look like he gives his all every time. moss looks like he doesn't care most of the time.

I think its a terrible comparison. They are 2 way different receivers. Randy and Warren Sapp were in 2 different situations on the Raiders. Sapp is being double teamed by 300 pound linemen trying to knock his head off, he HAS to try or else he'd get hurt. If you have ever played on a sports team where you are the star but nothing around you is going good, then you know when your team is hopeless and there is nothing you can do about it. T.O quits on his team when they are winning. He called Jeff Garcia gay and he has the hottest wife/girlfriend in the league. Randy is MUCH more talented. Does anyone realize he drops more passes than anyone in the league? It's not just last year with the broken finger. He said he's better than ever, yet leads the league in dropped passes again this year. All of Randy's teammates now and before this year will have all positive reactions when asked about him. Randy has never fought teammates, like T.O has. I had the privilege of meeting a Raiders player during the summer and since Randy is my favorite player, I asked what he's like, and he said that Randy was a great guy and a hilarious guy to be around. Ask McNabb or Garcia what they think of Owens, guarantee it's nothing like Randy's reviews.

While I'm not 100% sure, I'm pretty certain Terrell made those comments about Jeff Garcia after they were no longer team mates. So those comments dont have anything to do with "quitting on his team".

Asking former team mates about Terrell Owens and Randy Moss isn't an exact science as to what kind of guy they are. If you ask Donovan Mcnabb you may get a bad response. But if you ask Jeremiah Trotter, you'll get a great reaction. Owens had alot of supporters on the Philly team. Just like he had supporters in San Francisco. Each team has 53 men, you will undoubtedly find differing opinions about individuals.

Making excuses for Randy's behavior is something you have to deal with on your own, this is an issue of PROFESSIONALISM. At the very least he should earn the check they're paying him. I don't care how randy moss acts torwards the media, I dont care that Randy Moss smokes weed in the offseason. But on the FIELD OF PLAY, when he stopped caring. That was inexcusable.

He personafied the stereotype of "a lazy stoner" on the Raiders.

"While I'm not 100% sure, I'm pretty certain Terrell made those comments about Jeff Garcia after they were no longer teammates."

You're right. He was on the Eagles already.

I agree, watch any of the interviews Randy has given and compare them to T.O's. They are totally different. Randy just gets a bad rep because of something he said WAY long ago when he was w/ Minnesota. He will never be able to live down that statement...no media person will let him

this is 2007.... herd anything from him yet?

Nice article. i like the comparisons. TO does seem to leave it all on the field. Moss did quit on his team and was rewarded with exactly what you said, "football utopia." Go figure.

When you are the best player in the league at your position and constantly find yourself on a terrible team, with terrible players. Unable to put up the numbers you could put up. KNowing full well that the organization expects you to be thier winning weapon. It gets frustrating. YOu said yourself the raiders QB threw to the opposing team more than his own. If the qb can't get teh ball to you when your open honestly why bother running the route.

Take Barry Sanders for example. He got so sick of Detroit Dogging him and not getting any other weapons on the team and depending on him and him alone to win games that HE RETIRED. And he wasnt at the end of his career. He got sick and tired of it and asked to be traded detroit said no way, and he said fine my football career is over have a nice day. He quit on his team in the truest sense of the word. Is Barry Sanders even more of a pathetic excuse of a footbal player than randy moss is?

Theres a difference.

Barry Sanders fufilled his duties on the field, and rushed for 1,400 yards his final season and retired AFTER it was over due to frustrations with the Lions. Randy Moss quit on the field of play. HUGE difference.

Like I've said before at the very least, athletes should earn the check they are paid on the field.

They should earn thier money, I just don't think that his downright frustration in oakland is worth knocking him for. Just my opinion. Theres no real right answer here. :-)

hehe, You guys just won't admit Randy Moss is the best WR still? How many years now? He's been the best since 1998, & the fact you won't say he's the best because, "he walked off the field,", or "sprayed the ref", or "tanked it in Oakland." IS PURE HATING. Plain & simple, go look in the mirror & say this, "I just said Randy Moss isn't the best WR" & then say, "I'm Crazy!" hehe, Simply put, Randy Moss may be the best WR we've ever seen, & yes, that includes Jerry Rice. I grew up on Jerry Rice, from bay area, & I'll tell you, Randy Moss is the only player you can even mention in the same breath as Jerry Rice. To hear you guys downplay his ELITE skills is funny to me, & your only refering to what the media plays over & over & over & over. You should be ashamed. Those were tiny things compared to the 100+ games he's played. Just go look at his numbers. Do you realize if he gets 17+ TD's this year, he'd be the first player ever to do that 3 times, including Jerry Rice. QUIT HATING & ENJOY GREATNESS. I don't get you guys. I really don't like Moss or T.O., but you can't deny how tight they are. Especially Moss. He runs a Deion Sanders 40 yard dash, he can jump higher than anyone, he has the best hands in the league, and he looks almost jordanesque the way he plays: very graceful and artistic and makes it look easy. And all you say is, he walked off early, 4 years ago, once early. I mean, if I were you, I'd question even being a fan if I said the best WR in the league wasn't good. It's just funny, did you know that Moss's 1st year with the Raiders, he got 1,000 yards & 8 TD!! Leave the man alone. Those numbers are hall of fame receivers averages, & IT WAS A DOWN SEASON?? Haha, you guys crack me up, I played college football, I know football. You guys must just be couch fans, because if you can't see Moss's greatness. Start watching golf. One day, Rice & Moss will be debated. It will be like picking between Coke & Pepsi. I choose Coke.

It's pretty obvious you didn't even read my article. If you did, you would have seen how I said I DIDNT CARE, about him walking off the field. That wasn't a big deal to me. Neither were the other things the media blasts him for.

If you would have read it, you also would have noticed I never denied any of his skills or accomplishments, I only questioned his heart and leadership ability.

I also said nothing bad about Terrell Owens, so I'm not sure what you're talking about there. Reading is fundamental.

I read books too! Mostly the ones with pictures.

Randy doesn't need leadership with Patriots... Tom Brady is the king of leadership with Patriots. T.O. is all show, he is trying to act like a good semaritan and acts like he has heart just as he did early on with the 49ers and Eagles. Just wait til they don't pass him the ball enough, he will once again destroy another team. Oh yeah compare their career highlights and you will realize who is truly better.

wanna know who the best is, poll all the cornerbacks in the league and ask who is the last person they want to guard one on one. before he came to new england there was a debate and many coaches said that randy moss is the only wr they had to game plan for, including jerry rice. get real people to is good but nobody wants to be isolated with randy on that island.

Randy Moss was named team captain of the Oakland Raiders. He responded by being the first one wanting to jump ship when things started going badvin Oaktown. Great leaders lead by example, influence (positively) and take responsibility when thigs go bad. It's easy to say that he's doing great in New England when all is good in New England. He's having a great year, but don't bastardize what true leadership is by calling Randy a leader!

Moss is WAY BETTER. He has better speed, better hands and jumps higher. He is also smarter and has better awareness. T.O is just a running back in the WR position. Thats all he has over randy. I mean if you put a tall running back at WR he can do the same thing T.O does. Break takles? put him at RB where thats necessary.
Moss stretches the field and opens things up for everyone else.
