Last March, Donte' Stallworth was the top receiver available in free agency. But when the big money didn't flow his way, he signed what amounted to a one-year "prove it" deal with the Patriots.
He received $1 million to sign, a $700,000 base salary, a $300,000 workout bonus, and a $1.6 million roster bonus for being on the 53-man roster at the start of the season. (He also could have earned another $400,000 in incentives, but he fell 24 catches short of the 70 receptions...

My opinion is that Moss will be resigned and and with Moss on one side and Welker in the slot, it will allow Jabar Gaffney, Chad Jackson or kelley Washington to compete for the other outside spot and the #4 spot.
If Chad Jackson can develop it seems like he is a similar type of player to Stallworth, in terms of what his role is, using his speed to stretch the defense out. It also helps his cause that while he and Moss were hurt in camp, Moss took a liking to him.
Gaffney would make a hell of a 4th receivers who can present many options to Brady and I really think Kelley Washington earned the respect of the coaches for accepting the role of special teams ace and never complaining. He will be given every shot to win a spot in the receiver rotation.

PATS TO PASS ON STALLWORTH OPTION
A league source tells us that the New England Patriots already have advised receiver Donte' Stallworth that they won't be picking up the $6 million option due to be paid to him on or before February 25.
As a result, the Pats will be required to cut Stallworth by 4:00 p.m. EST on Friday, February 22. Unless, of course, they work out a new deal with him before then.
Stallworth was signed by the Pats before the team acquired Randy Moss. The decision not to keep Stallworth suggests that the team will retain Moss, possibly by applying the franchise tag to him and then trying to work out a long-term deal.
The deadline for applying the franchise tag is February 21.

agreed
BUT i don't want him back in philly...............wasn't crazy about him when he was here-UNLESS he steps up and is a 1st class WR that we so badly need!!!!!!

Picking up Stallworth and possible Javon Walker (if/when he is released) would be an upgrade in the position. No it's not like getting a marquee number 1 WR like Chad Johnson or Fitz or Moss or whoever, but Stallworth, Curtis, Walker, Brown along with LJ Smith and Celek; plus Westbrook out of the backfield would be plenty of weapons on the Eagles offense. Not to mention, it wouldn't cost them as much as it would to chase a marquee player.
I'm all for giving Moss a "offer-that-can't-be refused" and signing Stallworth, basically duplicating the Pats offense (except the Eagles would have a upgrade at TE); sending a 3 rounder to ATL for D'angelo Hall (they are cleaning house and would probably take it); moving Brown to CB; and sending the 2nd and 4th to Miami for Jason Taylor (due to their string of cuts, they are obviously cleaning house).
If I was the GM, I would make these moves if I was trying to win and win now...but will it happen? Well nothing is impossible, but plenty is improbable.
