I'd like for us to get Malcolm Kelly, or Desean Jackson, but if we go defense either Calais Campbell, Gholston, or Jenkins. I personally cant wait til the draft.
  • DTRIK19
    Placard_complete_small
I doubt Gholston or Jenkins will be available at 19...but stranger things have happened. Kelly or Jackson would be sweet, though they could both be gone as well. Hardy wouldnt be a bad pickup if we can't land a WR via trade. Kenny Phillips would be sweet if he was still around. Though we'll probably take WIlliams or Otah...just the sad sad truth
  • I would like Otah even tho its no a glamorous pick
  • DTRIK19
    Placard_complete_small
yea he's the most likely Pitt Panther to be an Eagle next year!
  • Wookielove
otah is the smart pick, tra, and runyan need replacing, and justice provided nothing to bank on last year.
    • DTRIK19
      Placard_complete_small
I have to argue with your view on Justice. You guys have to realize that he is a RIGHT tackle, not a left. Now to you and me, theres not much of a difference between to the two, but in fact there is. and besides...OSI makes fools on veteran tackles too
      • Wookielove
agreed, but if we had dept on that side he would not have been in that position. I dont remember any other tackles being embarrassed like that............ever.....
  • phillyfan841
Malcolm Kelly would be the best pick here if he's available. He's a big, quick, physical receiver. DeSean Jackson would be nice, and could be a good return guy, but hes a small receiver, and we need someone big. But DTRIK19, your right about the truth. It's Philly, it's the first round, it's going to be a linemen. Now if a #1 like Jeff Otah, or Gholston is available, we can't pass them up, but they will both be gone by 19, so let's go Malcolm Kelly!
  • I think it depends on who and if we get someone throuhg a trade... If we do get s reciever by trading i think we should get another corner assuming lito is gone.... Kenny phillips from miami would work as well.... I personally think the eagles will go the offensive round route though knowing andy and co.

    Placard_complete_small
Yep ... I think you guys have it right.
If everything falls the way most draftkicks think..then the Eagles would probably go:
    1. would be a lineman
2.I figure they add depth to WR/PR/KR posistion ...If they don't bring someone in ..
I looked at Lavelle Hawkins Cal WR.,At least 1 mock I know has him going to the Eagles.
2007: An All-Pac-10 Second Team selection ... rated as the No. 1 senior receiver in the country by ESPN's Mel Kiper, Jr....also served as Cal's primary kick returner averaging 22.0 yards per return.

Jordan steps-up ...we are OK going in with our LB's
  • If they stay @ 19... i believe Saftey, O-Lineman, or D-Line will be picked... I doubt the eagles will take a WR in the draft... if they trade and move up it will be after Gholston or a OL.....I like Kenny phillips, i love Gholston
Remember Shawn Andrews is probably the best Guard in the NFL, he was a tackle in college, he could certainly be a future tackle and they could draft a Guard in rounds 3-5.
    • jake11
I agree that Andrews is one of the best guards in the league which is why he needs to stay there. Don't mess with a good thing. Max Jean-Gilles will take over the left guard position this year. Justice will take Runyan's spot next year (If he's not included in the Fitz deal. Afterall, he did have Leinart's back in college) and the Eagles will draft a left tackle to compete with Herremans(he filled in nicely at LT in his rookie season) for Thomas's job next year.
  • phillyfan841
Gholston would solidify the D-line quite nicely. He's a guy that could come in and be the the rotation right away. There will be big receivers in rounds 2,3, and probably 4 as well. As well as O-line help like gordo24 mentioned
  • DTRIK19
    Placard_complete_small
gholston won't be sitting there at 19 though
    • Mcnabb728
def will be gone by 19...and i doubt they would trade up to get into a spot to get him when they just signed clemmons
  • Latinferno
    Placard_complete_small
If we trade Lito to the Pats (swapping #1 picks) we will take Vernon Gholston
If we trade Lito to anyone else it will be a CB (best available). I personally like Brandon Flowers and Dominique Rodgers Cromartie at #19

    If we keep Lito:
We will look hard at DE (Harvey or Campbell) but probably end up taking OL. Jeff Otah and Chris Williams are the "safe picks" but ...
BRANDON ALBERT will be our #1 pick if he is available. We don't have a pressing need at OL at this moment, so this gives him time to learn the system (and possibly kicking out to LT).
I'd be SHOCKED if we took a WR in the 1st round. But the WR that best fits our system is Limas Sweed (reminds me of Roy Williams) or possibly gamble that James Hardy will be the next "Plaxico Burress".
  • SCTrojans
keith rivers dropping at 19 and if they dont resign spikes...but they need a vet with those young linebackers...just like samuel in the 2ndry..
  • DTRIK19
    Placard_complete_small
I wouldn't mind seeing Rivers, but I doubt he'll drop that far. Trading Lito and swapping first round picks with the Pats? Yea, don't see that one happening ever. We don't have a pressing need at OL? No we don't need a starter, but you don't draft a guy the year you'll need him to play. We need a lineman to develop and have ready by the 2009 season since Thomas' and Runyan's contracts will be up
  • Latinferno
    Placard_complete_small
That's why he will have a year to develop. OL that is. And just b/c we don't like the Pats doesn't mean that swapping #1 picks and Lito is a bad idea. Remember last year when we traded our #1 pick to DALLAS? Bet you didn't see that one coming either..
  • I couldn't agree more with Latinferno. The best CBs that would fall to us are Comartie and Flowers. being from the ACC, and even though a little slower, Flowers is the best shutdown QB and fast "game" speed of all the CBs. We might be able to steal him in the 2nd if we trade up a couple picks. If we keep LIto, I could easily see the FO drafting the best OL or DE on their board. I have a feeling Buffalo would pick up Sweed before us, but he's probably the best WR in the draft. Compared to Roy Williams with combo of size and speed. I'll be pissed if we get Deshaurn or any other receiver that's not at least 6'3". I don't care how fast they are, Curtis is fast, won't be able to get past CBs and get off the line of scrimmage. Let's not pull a Ted Ginn pick.
  • DTRIK19
    Placard_complete_small
that also wasn't a top 10 pick...and Albert should be there in round 2
  • Latinferno
    Placard_complete_small
GoIggles15: Yeah Im the same way. Deshaun is good but I think we already have a speedy midget in Curtis. Our problem was the Red Zone. That's why Im leaning toward the prototypical west coast reciever. And FINALLY someone agrees with me on the Flowers pick. He would be a great pick since he would play nickle and isn't afraid to lay the WOOD when it comes to tackling. His play recognition is top notch as well. We could even convert him to SS (A combination of Darren Sharper and Ed Reed)

Albert is shooting up draft boards (not in the steriod type of way haha). I think he will go in the latter part of the 1st round for sure. And moving up in the top 10 isn't as difficult as it would seem. The point system for trading drops off quite a bit, and given that Lito is a proven player, it's honestly not a bad swap (of course they could throw in a late round conditional/performance pick for next year)
  • tomk23
Everyone here needs to push the Eagles to get Limas Sweed from Texas. He is the perfect fit. Great Redzone threat. It puts Curtis in the slot where he can excel more consistantly and become a better version of Wes Welker. Sweed is by far the best WR in the Draft. It will improve DMac's game as well. He also ran a 4.5 40 yard time so don't say he is too slow. He has only been injured once in his career. Take SWEED or KELLY.
    • DTRIK19
      Placard_complete_small
Why not Hardy? Sweed and Kelly will both probably be gone by 19 and Hardy is just as good if not a better threat in the red zone...he just can't stretch the field as well.

There is a nice article on the WR draft/FA's and how they fit on the Eagles from 700level.
here is the part of the WR draft we are interested in:

Malcolm Kelly, Limas Sweed, James Hardy, NFL Draft
A lot of fans have their doubts about drafting a wide receiver, but this is a solid last resort and actually could be their best move. They wouldn't be forced to trade Lito Sheppard or any picks to end up with one of these players, and all three guys are 6'4" or taller with the tools to score the rock. Hardy in particular racked up 36 TDs during 34 games at Indiana, while Kelly and Sweed are regarded by most as the top prospects at the position. The draft can be a crapshoot, but one of these guys might be the next Randy Moss.

    DeSean Jackson
  • johnb1027
im against the eagles even taking a shot at a receiver in the draft they suck at it i think take the corner who can return kicks cromartie or flowers and then take a safety if the corner picks it up fast move sheldon to ss and get rid of sean sucks balls consedine
  • Harrimans will replace Tra, and Max Gilles will replace Harrimans on the inside. Justice will likely eventually replace Runyan if he doesn't get traded. They won't go Offensive line in the first round. Nor will they go reciever. This too deep of a draft and they suck at drafting wide recievers anyway. Either way we will most likely trade our first round pick...We will likely draft a ton Of Lineman both defensive and offensive, a Linebacker or two, a Fullback for sure, and a corner/kick returner. A lot depends on what they give up for Fitzgerald. Likely Lito and their first round pick will be included in that trade. So we will just have to wait and see what picks they have left after they trade for a reciever. If they include Reggie Brown as is rummor in the Roy Williams trade then of course they will pick up a reciever in the draft. Avant will fill in right away for brown if they do trade him. He has better hands anyway.
    • 5forlife
Harrimans sucks and Tra is fine just old.
  • trotter830
HARDY or CEDRIC ELLIS, no doubt about it

The Philadelphia Eagles select Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon....
I dont understand alot of pplz love affair with Tony Hunt... but if you look at the situation, Buckhalter is on his last year of his contract, Moats is also, and he is always injured, Tony Hunt may be a good breaker but will never start for us, its jus not gunna happen, and Westbrook is not only getting older, but he is extreamly overused... unless we use this pick to pickup a Stud wide reciver in a trade, i think we should get ourselves an insurance policy, cuz we all know if b. west goes down, thats basically our season in a nutshell.... Jonathan Stewart is going to be a stud running back for some team.... and alot of draft have him lasting to just b4 our pick.. i say if he is there get him... not only is he going to be our insurance on a positive season but also, he is westbrooks opposite in attributes.....
i then, like i said if this pick dosent get traded,... trade up in the second round to grab Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College..... the guy is a beastly size, and is the type of player who could do well sitting behind to Probowl guys named Jon Runyan and William Thomas, and provide us with the future the Eagles Organization seems to be focused on.... Go Birds!!!!!
  • trotter830
i actually never thought of it like that bad4ndy, nice...with that being said i will say that i highly doubt the eagles are going to get rid of tony hunt, he was a rookie last year and buck has plaid tremendously the past two years, so, as much as i like the john stewart pick, i dont think it would ever happen, as for gosder...definite possibiltity
  • phillyfannaz
Get Chris williams from vandy trade up if you got to just get him to replace runyan or Thomas
  • LOL "harrmians sucks" You are clueless man. As a rookie when tra was out he filled in and did a great job. It is his natural position. They just moved him to the inside because Tra is healthy, but he played so good that they had to keep him on the line. They moved him inside and he has worked his butt off and has great technique on the inside even though it is not his natural position. The Eagles have no need to draft an Offensive Lineman with the first pick. Maybe a defensive End, but you can usually tell by the off season moves. If they planned on getting a Defensive end they wouldn't have gotten Clemons. They are going to play the line that they "have a good rotation at Defensive end" With Victor ALamari as the number 4 guy behind Cole. The one spot they have not address at all in Free Agency is Safety. They clearly are going to need someone to replace Dawk when he retires. So if they don't trade their first round pick then I am thinking they will go safety.........
  • trotter830
wow man, nice fucking post, u are dead on my friend!!!!!!!!
  • Finally between my two fav picks i would say Kelly or Dominque Cromartie it depends if Lito is going (which is basically official its on NFL.com) so yeah i guess it would be cromartie, he can return so we solve nickel and KR problems
