Found August 15, 2013 on Steel City Blitz:
Back in the spring I was 100% on board the train that said “let Emmanuel Sanders go to New England.” The Patriots had signed him to an offer sheet but as a restricted free agent, the Steelers had the right to match and so they did. The pay-off of letting Sanders walk would have been a third round pick in this past draft and I was all for it seeing as how this team needed to get younger. With those things said, I understand why Ben Roethlisberger lobbied for him to stay in Pittsburgh. I get that completely because with Mike Wallace gone and Heath Miller on the mend, only Antonio Brown remained from the corps receiving group. Flash-forward to last Saturday night as the Steelers hosted the Giants in the preseason opener for both teams. Something became very apparent to me in a way that was much more demonstrative than I imagined it would be when I knew Sanders was returning. There is a very good chance that Emmanuel Sanders could end up being the leading receiver for this team. While S...

The Pittsburgh Steelers got a gift following the 2012 NFL Draft when they were able to land Robert Golden as an undrafted free agent. Steelers Coach Richard Mann Says WR Derek Moye Needs To Get On His Defender Better

Wide receivers Justin Brown and Derek Moye are competing against each other for a spot on the Pittsburgh Steelers 53 man roster during training camp and the two know each other well as they both played for Penn State prior to Brown transferring to Oklahoma because of the fallout stemming from the Jerry Sandusky scandal. Move Of Guy Whimper To Left Guard Will Be Interesting To Watch Against Redskins

It appears as though the Pittsburgh Steelers might be without guard Justin Cheadle, who needed to be carted off the field Monday with a knee or leg injury, as the latest depth chart now has Guy Whimper as the backup right guard behind Ramon Foster. Whimper, who was signed as a free agent earlier in [...] Move Of Guy Whimper To Left Guard Will Be Interesting To Watch Against Redskins...

Cameron Heyward Took Alameda Ta’amu Under His Wing During The Offseason

Pittsburgh Steelers second-year nose tackle Alameda Ta’amu had a good showing in the preseason opener against the New York Giants this past Saturday as he continues to try to show the organization that they didn’t waste a fourth-round draft pick on him. Even though he showed up at training camp this year with an injured [...] Cameron Heyward Took Alameda Ta’amu Under His Wing...

Isaiah Green Now Third-Team Corner Ahead Of Josh Victorian

By Matthew Marczi Although it is but a small indication, it seems as though second-year undrafted cornerback Isaiah Green has surpassed Josh Victorian on the depth chart. Victorian, who also went undrafted a few years ago, actually has some in-game experience, including a start against the Dallas Cowboys last year when injuries necessitated a warm [...] Isaiah Green Now Third-Team...

Above The Neck Play Could Keep Vince Williams Above The Line

By Matthew Marczi Prior to the first preseason game for the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was my intention to write about Vince Williams as potentially the ninth linebacker on the team’s 53-man roster, which would fly in the face of convention, given their history of keeping a fifth outside linebacker, rather than an inside linebacker. Part [...] Above The Neck Play Could Keep Vince...

Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell moves up to No. 1 on depth chart

It is not often that a rookie running back, who has not taken a handoff in a game, goes from No. 3 to No.1 on the depth chart.  However, that is exactly what happened to Pittsburg Steelers’ rookie RB Le’Veon Bell. Mike Florio of NBCSports reports that Bell, who has yet to play a down in a game in the NFL, went from No. 3 on the RB depth chart to No. 1.  Bell still shares...
