The Patriots may have won yesterday, but players were even a little surprised they did it while losing four turnovers. It’s uncharacteristic for this team, especially with QB Tom Brady throwing two picks.
But how did they happen? Let’s review…
The first turnover: Late in the first quarter, Brady dropped back to pass on a slow-developing play, spotting WR Deion Branch on a 13-yard in-cut. But DT Kenyon Coleman knocked guard Brian Waters back about five yards on a bull-rush, putting himself in position to swat the ball. Coleman hit the football, it fluttered, and CB Terrence Newman out-positioned Branch to make the pick.
