Found September 19, 2013 on Eagles Faithful:
Tonight, Donovan McNabb takes his rightful place among the Philadelphia Eagle greats. Tonight, Super5 will get his number retired at halftime of the Eagles game versus Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs. McNabb said he chose the Chiefs game because he wanted “Big Red” to be a part of the celebration. The Eagles Faithful staff took a few moments to list their favorite and least favorite Donovan McNabb moments throughout his stellar career. Mike Burke Favorite Donovan play: The 14 second scramble against Dallas. Least favorite: It’s not a play but in hindsight I wish he never would have done that air guitar thing in Dallas. Hal Greenblatt Favorite Moment: When I worked for the Eagles, I had the opportunity to banter back and forth with Donovan about a recent Temple versus Syracuse football game. Temple won that game and I let Donovan have it. I was 17 when this happened and Donovan treated me like he had known me for years. Least Favorite: Easter Sunday, 2010, when the Donovan McNabb era ended in Philadelphia. A fractured relationship became completely broken and culminated in McNabb beating Philadelphia as a Redskin. Ultimately, this would begin the end of McNabb’s NFL career, as he lasted one year in Washington and half a year in Minnesota. Scott Zeitz My most favorite McNabb moment was the 14 second scramble against Dallas on Monday night. My least favorite McNabb moment was against Cincinnati when he didn’t know a game could end in a tie. Steve Jacot Favorite Donovan moment: Donovan McNabb did so much for the Eagles franchise, that it’s hard to narrow it all down to one moment. 4th and 26, the long scramble and pass against Dallas, picking up the sideline phone against the Giants. They’re all amazing moments. The one I’ll always remember, however, is his grittiest performance. In a 2002 game against the Cardinals, McNabb broke his right ankle early on in the game. McNabb should have sat, he should have come out of the game. But what did he do? He toughed it out, stayed in, and went 20 of 25 for 255 yards and 4 touchdowns! People always rail about Donovan for not being tough enough and all of that nonsense, but I can always point to that performance for evidence to the contrary. Least favorite Donovan moment: Everything after the Eagles was ugly, specifically his performances with the Redskins and Vikings. He was never the same after his time in Philadelphia and it was just sad to watch. Jim Hasson Favorite Moment: There will be few numbers more meaningful to me at the end of my life than 4th and 26. It’s like John 3:16 to Eagles fans. A reverent number that conjures greatness linked to #5 for an eternity. Least Favorite: Conversely, choking both literally and figuratively in the Super Bowl will always be the Scarlet ( or Green) Letter to Eagles fans. Had he turned any of his moments of greatness to even 1 Super Bowl win, all of the criticism against him would have melted away. Alas… Andy Greenblatt McNabb moments: Best – The Arizona game, where he played on a broken ankle and had the best game of his career.  Runner up, the Redskins game where he made the memorable mid-field juke. Worst – the back to back losses to Dallas in the last game of the season and playoff game, highlighted by the moment he was trying to be too loose and cool when coming out of the tunnel Scott Anderson Favorite McNabb play: A few years before his implosion, McNabb ran for what seemed like 400 yards against the Redskins. On one play, he broke outside and put on a hilarious juke and ended up scoring. For such a big guy, it was fun to watch. Least Favorite: I can’t handle how many times he murdered the rue 3 yards short of the WR. Ray Jaffe Best McNabb: I was sitting in section 244 of the Linc when Donovan connected with Freddie Mitchell on 4th and 26.  It is just one of those plays that you never forget. Least: Ronde Barber in the NFC championship at the Vet.  That was our superbowl to win and he threw that awful interception. Watching Ronde run 92 yards down the field made me want to cry David Bagley Favorite: Chunky soup commercials with his mom Least: Losing the Super Bowl. That’s when he faced criticism late in his career and he never over came it Antonio Santiago Favorite McNabb moment: My favorite McNabb moment must be the 17 second scramble that resulted in a huge passing play completion to Freddie Mitchell. What made it even better? It was against the Cowboys! Least Favorite McNabb Moment: Donovan’s INT to Rodney Harrison with 17 seconds left in SuperBowl XXXIX…. Dain Stiles Favorite McNabb moment: Its hard to pick just one, but i think the TD to Chad Lewis to seal the NFC Championship is a favorite. Least favorite:The Eagles were winning 7-0 early in the Super Bowl. McNabb threw a pick in the end zone. There was a pass interference penalty on NE. Next play he throws another pick. If they score there, they might win the Super Bowl. Yes, i haven’t forgotten. (Image Courtesy of TheStartingFive.net) The post A Look Back At Donovan McNabb appeared first on Eagles Faithful.

Eagles fan, 3, has wish come true

Thursday night may have been the return of Andy Reid to Philadelphia and the night the Eagles retired Donovan McNabb's day, but the night belonged to 3-year-old Bryan Maenner. At his first Eagles game with his father, Richard, Bryan Maenner was there to live - not to die. That's because 18 months ago Bryan was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer that causes tumors in his...

Donovan McNabb Will Gradually Earn His Due as Eagles’ Greatest Quarterback, As Time Is On His Side

First, this: Drew Bledsoe led the Patriots back into relevance and helped make them a Super Bowl contender at a time when the franchise’s very existence in New England was put in jeopardy. For his trouble, he got raked across the coals. It may be an unpopular reality, but when Bledsoe makes appearances at Gillette Stadium nowadays, welcomed with applause and honored with the red...

Donovan McNabb Is Better Than Tom Brady

A bold proclamation indeed, but true?  I believe so. Now understand, Tom Brady will likely go down as one of top-5 quarterbacks of all-time and is a surefire Hall of Famer. Donovan McNabb is on the outside looking in at Canton. Numbers-wise, Brady currently has over 45,000 yards passing, 337 touchdowns, and is still going strong. McNabb hasn’t compiled nearly that number of yards...
