It was strangely quiet on the protest front as Mike Vick received a genuinely warm welcome from the fans at the Linc last night in Philadelphia when he re-entered the NFL on precisely the Eagles' second offensive play of the game.
Head coach Andy Reid got Vick in early and often, using Vick for seven snaps in all, with Vick getting 6 touches, and actually completing 4 passes from the traditional QB set-up. And then Vick was done for the night. He semed relaxed and almost cheerful on the sidelines, at one point seen laughing out loud at something his new mentor Donovan McNabb had said.
All well and good for Vick. The protesters backed off, the NAACP rally in his favor came and went, only one fist-fight was reported between a Vick fan and a Vick hater in the stands, and Mike Vick lived to play another day in his feel-good quest for redemption.
Oh yes, a game of sorts was played between Jacksonville and Philadelphia, with the Eagles somehow prevailing at the end, 33-32. I saw two ...
