The Sports Grid does a nice job breaking down how Aaron Hernandez life in prison is going. Prison isn’t a pleasant place, so as you can imagine he is confined to small cell and doesn’t have a lot of privileges. I have told the story  before about how I had a bunch of unpaid traffic tickets many years ago. I didn’t think they would actually arrest anyone for traffic tickets, but I was wrong. I was in the county lockup for one day. It wasn’t even the real jail, just where they hold you until you post bond or they let you go after they give you new court date. If you can’t post bond they would send you to the real jail. I was only there for maybe 10 hours, but it was the most miserable 10 hours of my life. Not a pleasant experience, not trying to preach to you or sound like a Friday after school special on you, but don’t commit crimes. Here are the two things that I found interesting about Hernandez’s stay. Hernandez has never complained about his treatment and has eaten all his meals. He has made only one special request, asking for more protein in his diet. That request was denied, according to Bernie Sullivan, a Bristol County spokesman. According to the no-nonsense sheriff, Hernandez has been a model prisoner. “He’s been nothing but perfect,” said Hodgson. “I met with him when he first came in to lay the rules out. I said, ‘Here’s the deal. You won’t be treated any better or worse or get any special privileges here. If you have any issues or problems, tell command.’ He was very polite and very respectful. He didn’t seem nervous, he seemed very comfortable.” The fact that Hernandez feels comfortable and is looking for a better diet, leads me to believe he thinks he is going to be able to beat the charges.  Not sure why he believes that, but his demeanor is full of confidence. The Sheriff seems to like to talk to the media a lot, he is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame.  If Aaron Hernandez is guilty, then he deserves to be locked up, but we have to remember he has the presumption of innocence, no matter how bleak it is looking for him.

Aaron Hernandez: answering the deep, thought-provoking questions

In the wake of the Aaron Hernandez murder case, I have a lot of questions. That need answers. Such as 1.) Why have the New England Patriots continued to sign/draft malcontents and players with character issues? 2.) Why didn’t they do a better job vetting Aaron Hernandez? Or did they see the warning signs and just ignore them? 3.) What does The Patriot Way really mean today? Hasn’t...

Rob Gronkowski Threatens To Leave Interview Over Hernandez Questions (Video)

Aaron Hernandez and his murder charge is a subject that is taboo in the NFL and especially Foxboro, but it’s also the subject that most people want to know about. Well, Rob Gronkowski is haven’t nothing to do with it. When pressed to speak about his former teammate Gronk emphatically refused and when pressed even threatened to leave the interview. I understand his reluctance...

Pouncey twins rock “Free Hernandez” hats

This could be one of the dumbest things ever done by high profile athletes.  Really, this makes Ochocinco taping his lawyer on the rear after a verdict seem smart.  Aaron Hernandez was charged with murder and all signs point towards him being guilty.  But that did not stop the Pouncey twins from wearing “Free Hernandez” hats at a party. There are rumors that the Pouncey brothers...

Steelers make Maurkice Pouncey apologize for "Free Hernandez" hats

The Pouncey brothers were both teammates of Aaron Hernandez, so when they showed up on the internet wearing "Free Hernandez" hats, it wasn't surprising. It also wasn't surprising when their respective teams, the Dolphins and Steelers, were reportedly not happy about that incident. Pittsburgh appears to have gotten to the older brother Maurkice, as he today released...

In America you are deemed innocent until proven guilty. However, the court of public opinion often operates from a slightly different tilt. Conan O’Brien zings Patriots during monologue

Late night talk show host Conan O’Brien took the opportunity to throw a zinger in the New England Patriots’ direction during one of his recent opening monologues. Conan was discussing a new DC Comic in which Superman kills someone, then jokes that the Patriots signed him afterwards – obviously a reference to the whole Aaron Hernandez murder saga. On a related note, Superman...

Carlos Ortiz labeled ‘rat’ in neighborhood for giving up Aaron Hernandez

Three weeks ago, Carlos Ortiz had a much different relationship with former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. The 27-year-old was not a star witness who may be providing investigators with enough information to put Hernandez away for life. Instead, he was a close friend. Ortiz hangs around on a street called Davis Drive [...]

Tom Brady told Tim Tebow Aaron Hernandez is ‘a lot to handle’ in 2011

When the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos faced each other toward the end of the 2011 season, reporters couldn’t wait to capture the postgame handshake between Tom Brady and Tim Tebow. Brady and Tebow are two of the most popular players in football, and Tebow had been defying the odds at that point by [...]

Bill Belichick, Aaron Hernandez, Scott Pioli and what needs to change with the Patriots

2009. Probably the worst Patriot season in recent memory. Even 2008 wasn't as bad. At least in 2008 the team had an excuse for failing to meet expectations. There was no Tom Brady. After the shock of seeing Brady keeled over on the ground in the first game of that season wore off, it became a pretty entertaining year. Who thought we would be watching Matt Cassel defy the...
