The American Civil Liberties Union is very concerned with the way former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is being treated in prison as he waits to be tried for murder. The group expressed their concern in a blog post, which argues that Hernandez's placement in solitary confinement can do more damage than good, adding that international communities "recognize solitary confinement as a form of torture.""Regardless of what you think of Aaron Hernandez, it's important to take a minute and remember he has not yet been convicted — in the eyes of the law, he is still innocent until proven guilty," ACLU.org wrote. "But, while awaiting trial, he has been locked alone in a small room with little or no human interaction for over 20 hours a day."Hernandez may very well be waiting for his trial to begin for many months, too. Some experts believe it could take upwards of a year. Meanwhile, the ACLU is worried about Hernandez being locked away from the general prison population in a cell the "size of a parking spot."Although the 23-year-old is receiving compassion from the ACLU, he hasn't received much from the public since being arrested in connection with the killing of Odin Lloyd. I seriously doubt he will outside of Snoop Lion and the ACLU, either.Via Shutdown Corner
