Actor Bradley Cooper plays Pat Solitano in his upcoming movie Silver Linings Playbook alongside Robert De Niro, who plays Cooper's obsessed Philadelphia Eagles father in the movie.  Cooper said he and his father, who has since passed, were huge Eagles fans, which helped with his role in the movie. "Anytime you can make a connection with your own life and your role, it's a great thing," Cooper, 37, said during an interview Wednesday with Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer at the Eagles' practice facility in South Philadelphia. "And for this movie, there were a lot of those things. I'm from Philly and so is Pat Solitano. I'm Italian-Irish, like he is. I've been an Eagles fan since I'm a kid. All of those things are invaluable, and the fact that Robert De Niro and I have a personal relationship made it much easier to play his son." Silver Linings Playbook is a romantic comedy-drama directed by David O. Russell.  Cooper plays a man (Pat Solitano) who has lost his house, job and his wife.  He moves back in with his parents after spending eight months in a state institution.  He and his parents are obssesed with the Philadelphia Eagles.  Solitano meets a girl who he ends up falling for as she helps him reconnect with his wife.   Cooper told the Philadelphia Inquirer that most of the film takes place in Delaware County in a house that reminded him of his grandparents.   The movie was filmed "in a house that is very similar to my grandparents' house," said Cooper, adding that director David O. Russell "would have food being cooked in the kitchen so you would smell gravy throughout the day as you were working. All those things are really important. They actually help ground you. When you're making a movie, the goal is to be authentic. If we've succeeded at all in this movie, it's that you believe this group of people is a real family that lived in that house on that block in 2008." Cooper, who was born in 1975, said his family's schedule revolved around Philadelphia Sports. "I remember the tail end of the Ron Jaworski [era] and then Randall Cunningham," he said. "And I was a huge Reggie White fan. I loved Donovan McNabb, and I was happy when Andy Reid came in." Eagles Injury Report: Michael Vick Sustained ‘Significant’ Concussion; Doubtful vs. Redskins

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was at risk of being benched due to poor play entering Sunday’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. The quarterback was ultimately removed from the game not because of his erratic production but because he sustained yet another concussion, one that coach Andy Reid termed “pretty significant,” reports Cindy Boren of the Washington...

Eagles could end up cutting Nnamdi Asomugha

There’s no question that the Philadelphia Eagles have been a big disappointment this season.  One of their biggest problems on the defensive side of the ball has been the play of Nnamdi Asomugha who still hasn’t lived up to the free agent mega deal he signed last season. There’s a chance that the eagles might cut Asomugha this offseason if he doesn’t take a pay cut. “The...

Michael Vick’s Next Destination (Buffalo, Perhaps?) Among Top Week 11 NFL Prop Bets (Photos)

Michael Vick isn’t expected to play tackle football this weekend, as the Eagles turn to Nick Foles while Vick attempts to recover from a concussion. It’s uncertain when — or even if — Vick will return this season. If he doesn’t, there’s a chance that he doesn’t even return to Philadelphia. He’s shown flashes of brilliance at times in Philly, but the overall body of...

Eagles QB Vick out with concussion

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will miss Sunday's game vs. the Washington Redskins due to the effects of a concussion. Rookie Nick Foles, who replaced Vick during the 38-23 loss to Dallas on Sunday, and who practiced with the first team all week, will get his first NFL start in a battle of 3-6 teams fighting to save their seasons. Philadelphia head trainer Rick Burkholder...

Vick again can't pass concussion test

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick did not pass a league-mandated concussion test this week and will not return to practice until he does. Vick, injured in a 38-23 loss to Dallas on Nov. 11, took the exam on Wednesday, the Eagles said. Backup Nick Foles, a rookie who has started the last two games for Philadelphia, will likely get the call again on Sunday, when the Eagles (3-8) face...

Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: Should they stay or should they go?

The Philadelphia Eagles have two highly touted corners in Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie whose futures with the team are uncertain after this season. Rodgers-Cromartie is set to become a free agent. However, making a deal with him or any other player is not a priority for the Birds at the moment. With a 3-6 record and preparing to start a rookie quarterback on Sunday...

Vick misses practice on Wednesday

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick did not practice on Wednesday, but has not yet been ruled out of Sunday's game vs. the Washington Redskins.

Philadelphia Eagles: Week 11 NFL Power Rankings (#21)

Last week: 18 (-3) Record: 3-6 It was a very smart of Andy Reid to “rest” Michael Vick the rest of the way. He’s not making the playoffs, but he can still save his job if Nick Foles goes say 4-3. He can blame their slow start on Vick and his history developing quarterbacks will probably convince management to let Reid stick around and develop the promising young quarterback...

Vick and Reid’s future rests on Nick Foles arm

Will Nick Foles be able to perform with the weight of the Eagles franchise on his back? Michael Vick is still feeling the effects of a substantial concussion, and will not be ready for Sunday, and may not be ready to play for quite some time. That leaves the Philadelphia Eagles at 3-6 with their rookie QB Nick Foles set to take over the reins. I’m sure Foles will try to say something...

Another Eagles’ turnover: This time at quarterback

When Michael Vick got concussed in the second quarter of the Eagles’ 38-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, first it is a real shame for such a gamer. It might be a blessing in disguise for Philadelphia Eagle fans. Not that Nick Foles will definitely be a World Beater, but the dude is 6’6”, 243 pounds, compared to Michael Vicks’ 6-0, 215 pounds. Foles in size and stature is closest...
