Last Sunday, Eric Dickerson breathed a huge sigh of relief as Adrian Peterson came this close to breaking his single-season rushing record.
Still, A.D. has a message for E.D.: Don't get comfortable.
In a segment for NFL Network's "NFL Gameday Morning" on Saturday, the Vikings' All-World running back expressed his desire to reach 2,500 yards in 2013.
"I want to try to set the ball higher than that," Peterson said, via NFL.com. "I want to make it the 2,500 club.
"It's definitely out there. I feel like it's definitely attainable. ... Enjoy this last year because the record's going down, with ease."
Peterson finished the year with 2,097 yards, nine short of eclipsing Dickerson's record (2,105). As you could imagine, the disappointment was evident.
"It was a terrible feeling," Peterson said. "I kind of figured I didn't break the record. I kind of assumed maybe I was 30-40 away from it.
