Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson believes he has a shot at participating in training camp on a limited basis, once things kick off in late July.
“I imagine myself definitely getting stronger and doing a lot on the side,” Peterson said on Thursday, “and I also imagine myself being able to get out there and be involved, too. That’s my imagination. … I feel like I’ll be able to do something.”
Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier would rather have Peterson work out on the side during camp.
“It’s early right now,” said Frazier. “But in my mind right now, it’d be better to be doing things on the side (in camp) until we know and feel comfortable that he can get out there and interact with the players.”
There’s a still a good chance that the Vikings will place Peterson on the PUP list once camp opens up. Then they would have to decide whether or not they’d transfer him to the reserve/PUP list, which would keep him out for the first six weeks of the regular seaso
