Mark Anderson walked off the practice field wearing a Patriots uniform, clearly happy to be in it. But from the sounds of it, he was happy to be in any uniform. A free agent this offseason, Anderson thought his phone would be ringing off the hook. It wasn’t. It was jarring for him. “The whole free agency period was a humbling experience once again,” Anderson said. “I finally got the call from New England, I wanted to come out here. It’s a great opportunity for me to go out there and play, pass-rush, whatever, help the defense out. I accepted the challenge and I’m here now.” Why humbling? Well, he thought after 12 sacks as a rookie, he’d be in higher demand.
